Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My interview was at 0830hrs on the 28th of April, 2009.

I arrived by train and tube at Bond street and as I had walked my journey using google streetview, I knew exactly where I was and where to go. I arrived at Goulding pharmacy promptly at 0730, as they opened and stashed my electronic devices. I still had a normal-sized rucksack with paperwork in, a pen and some food and drink inside.

I lined up outside for about 30 minutes initially, from 0735 roughly, before noticing that my line went to a bunch of students and not the entrance...it was a check-in line for Camp America and because you couldn't see the front of the line, I'd thought it was for the Embassy. nevertheless, after walking up to the now empty line for the embassy, a lot of people who'd been doing the same followed. I got through security fine, had to take my belt off and had to take a swig of my bottled water, to prove it wasn't dangerous.

Next, I walked around the side of th... read complete review

I was flying in from Belfast, so I left the house at 5am in a taxi bound for Belfast City airport. I arrived in Stansted just before 8, and got the 8 o'clock Stansted express into London. My interview was at 9, so I knew I was cutting it close. At Liverpool Street station I got on the Tube for Bond Street, which took about 10 minutes. A short run to Grosvenor Square later, and I was there, only 20 minutes late; whoops!

I needn't have worried though, no one mentioned anything, and I think I looked suitably ruffled and out of breath. There wasn't much of a queue thankfully, and in less than 10 minutes, I was inside the embassy. I took my number from the front desk (5024!), and headed up the stairs and through the door. The room was absolutely packed, and it was a hot day, which didn't really help with the atmosphere.

I found a seat at the far end of the room and sat down. According to the screen, they were serving immigrant visa number 5012 or something, so... read complete review

Arrived at 8.15 for a 9am interview to discover it was raining despite being fairly sunny when I got on the tube in South London. A raincoat would have been good as there is a fairly lengthy queue outside the embassy to get in, or rather 3 queues you have to do one after the other before going through the security check. The staff outside were pretty friendly and the two blokes inside the security building were a barrel of laughs, and it was good to be able to crack a smile at that point as the nerves were beginning to build. Once past security you have to round two sides of the building before going in. You get your ticket inside the lobby and then into the waiting area proper. All the different visa wait there but that morning there were 24 people with 5000 (immigrant) numbers that morning and I was 5014. There were a lot more going for work/student visas etc. I couldn't work out which order they called people in but the 5000 queue moves at a lot slower rate. There are big screens ... read complete review

Turned up at 6:50 for 8am interview only to find a queue had already formed in front of the Embassy! The security started to let us through at 7:30. It helped being there so early because I got the very first immigrant visa number 5000. It looks like all 5000 people were told the same thing, to wait around window 1 so when they started calling us, it was a bit of a track to get to windows 13 and 14. I was called up to window 13 around 8:10, 8:15. The first thing I was asked was whether I had my medical yet and when I said yes, she asked when since it still hasn't arrived here. My heart just sank after that. I was so disappointed because the Knightsbridge doctors’ definitely had enough time to deliver it. She was sooooo slow in checking everything and took good 5 minutes just getting all her stationary ready. Wasn't all that clued in either. At one point she said "there is no such thing as British Croatian" and I said I know but the question asked to list... read complete review

SO i had a 9am interview! but i decided to get there early and skip the que! Arrived at the embassy at 7 30 and was through security by 8am. As i qued up my dad decided he would wait around til i got in! but guess what happened he started to take pictures of me in the que! and he got asked by a police officer why he was taking pictures! lol so while i was going through security my dad had to persuade the officer he wasnt a terrorist HAHA

Any way i got to the main building and got my ticket. Number 5002 so it is well worth getting their early to jump the que! Once then i went into the waiting room which has all the interview booths on the right side and 4 big tv screens calling your number out! ITs very simple to follow so no need to worry.

After waiting about 30 mins i got called to window 1 and had to give them my finger prints and was asked for my passport, birth certificate, Police record, and affidavits! At window 1 was fei lei a small chinese woman, ... read complete review
