I was done only by 11:30 am ) First there was a long line outside in front of the entrance. then there was a line inside in front of another entrance. Then I went to the waiting hall for immigrant visas. There I was asked to come up to a certain window where the russian lady asked me to give her all required doc-s. I think I looked funny while trying to get out the papers among this huge pile of papers. It turned out tht the needed me to give them only the applications filled out by me and put there my signature, the papers with my fiancees financial support, police report with translation, birth certificate with its copy, the copy of the first page of my foreign passport and the paper with the appointment approval - where that russian lady had put a special bar code. I think these are all that they asked. Then Ive waited for about 1.5 hour before I was invited for the interview. There were two Americans - a guy and a girl. I was talking to the girl/lady. Shes very nic... read complete review

Hi VJ Members----We arrived somewhat early and there was a large crowd. If U have a child like we did you can go to the front of the line. The initial stages of interview are very simple--mostly handing in papers and such. It helps if your papers are well organized. Our actual interview was conducted by a man w shaved head--he handles difficult cases. Ours was a difficult case bcs Mila had been stopped and turned around before at JFK. They alleged that she "worked". The discussion on the interview quickly turned to this topic. It should be noted that although her previous Visa had been "withdrawn" this aspect posed no issue at all. The topic was "work". We answered truthfully but briefly--I, the Petitioner, attended and I am sure this was useful as I was able to "minimize" the impact of any/all derogatory info. If one is questioned in a difficult manner my recommendation is to "stay calm" and do not EVER argue. Stay with the facts and to be friendly. The man, at the end, was very frien... read complete review

My fiancee had a very easy time with her interview. She arrived at 730am and said there was a lot of people already in line at the embassy. She met an old lady that she helped the previous day with her medical and she let her jump in line with her. My fiancee had her son with her. They went in the embassy around 8am. She said the lines moved very quickly. She was sent to a window and spoke to a lady ( she said she wasnt very friendly) and it took about 15 minutes at this window. The lady was asking for each form that was required and had her sign them. Then she was sent to get her finger prints right away. She was then asked to go to the waiting area. She was called right up at 10am. She was interviewed by a young man. She went up to the window and he asked her to do the oath. Then he asked if she spoke to me in english or russian. She stated english and he continued the interview in english. She did say he seemed relieved that she spoke english. He asked how we met and then he l... read complete review

Wanted to begin with the problem: scheduling this interview was a nightmare: the website does not offers any dates, and anyone from the embassy responding to the phone calls could not provide any info on this. Was forced to pull some strings to accommodate this process to roll faster, looks like I was able to save 2-3 weeks by launching a formal complaint. There was never an official response, but several hours before I got an email that my complaint will be reviewed the schedule opened up and it even had the next day available!

Embassy itself was good, no lines for those that are going to be able to immigrate (I find it amusing as K1 legally is not an immigrant visa), interviewer was polite and smiling. Only asked about how we met, about my trip to Russia, about our Caribbean vacation that took place after we applied, browsed through the pics, glanced at I-134 and congratulated. In and out in less than 5 mins.

Done!
Approved!

My fiancee went with her son to the interview, which was scheduled on December 6, 2012 at 8:00am. They live in Ramenskoe, Moscow region, which is 1.5 hours away by train. They were at the consulate at 7:20. There already was a line of about one hundred people. The doors didn't open until 8:00. By that time they say several hundred people were in line behind them.

They were let in at 8:00. They had to surrender their cell phones, flash drives, and such. When they got to the waiting room, they were asked to the window and they turned in all collected documents. From that point, it was a four-hour wait. Finally they were called.

The consular officer was a young lady, who was very friendly and professional. She told my fiancee that they couldn't locate the I-134, at which point my fiancee panicked. The consular office calmed her down, and said not to worry, they will look. She had someone dig through the pile of... read complete review
