This is from R's account of the interview. R went in there among 100 people for the same purpose. She went 8th. First,Russian employees checked all the documents. Then, an American officer conducted the interview. They took all the documentation R brought. The English translations of the Russian documents (although stated as needed on the embassy website) weren't necessary. The interview was conducted in Russian. The questions were directed at establishing the authenticity of the relationship. R was asked when and how we first met, what we have in common. What my cellphone number is (she was able to recite it from memory). Where and when I was born. The officer liked the pictures R brought. Was impressed that we went on a European vacation together. Noted that I went to see R multiple times. Checked that R went to the US twice. Noted the engagement ring on R's finger. Asked R what she would do first when she goes to the US. When R asked to clarify as to what he meant, he asked R when s... read complete review

Getting all of your ducks in a row for the K-1 interview, is simply homework. When the day of the test arrives, you want to have everything at your fingertips.
My fiancée and I were a bit worried as we are both "precise people", so we took the process very seriously from our respective sides of the planet. You need to be prepared for any eventuality and where the questioning may go. But, once you have solidified your paperwork, dotted your Is and crossed your Ts, then you have nothing to worry about if your story, your relationship, your narrative is all true.
We dutifully queued at 8:00 as they suggested, by 8:30 they began admitting people to the consulate, but 9:00 AM we were in our proper zone, waiting to be called for the interview at the designated window, and by 10:30 AM our K-1 interview took place and the consular officer told us that my gal was approved. The interview itself took all of 5 to 7 minutes. But, that's what a few weeks of solid prepa... read complete review

The interview at the Moscow Embassy took about 5 min. The actual time spent at the Embassy (passing security, waiting, fingerprinting, more waiting) was over 3 hours.
Questions asked (in English): "How did you meet? Where do you and your fiancé work? Where does your fiancé live?" No proof of relationships was requested in addition to the paperwork filed with I-129F.
I rate the overall experience at 5 (despite the long waiting time), because the Consul at window#3 was very friendly and even supportive to all the anxious people passing interview with him. Especially to the older ladies who were getting visa to go stay with their kids in the U.S.
Interview on 27Jun13 -> Visa issue date 01Jul13 -> Passport (and sealed envelope) received 05Jul13 (Sent from Moscow to Vladivostok).
