Getting all of your ducks in a row for the K-1 interview, is simply homework. When the day of the test arrives, you want to have everything at your fingertips.
My fiancée and I were a bit worried as we are both "precise people", so we took the process very seriously from our respective sides of the planet. You need to be prepared for any eventuality and where the questioning may go. But, once you have solidified your paperwork, dotted your Is and crossed your Ts, then you have nothing to worry about if your story, your relationship, your narrative is all true.
We dutifully queued at 8:00 as they suggested, by 8:30 they began admitting people to the consulate, but 9:00 AM we were in our proper zone, waiting to be called for the interview at the designated window, and by 10:30 AM our K-1 interview took place and the consular officer told us that my gal was approved. The interview itself took all of 5 to 7 minutes. But, that's what a few weeks of solid preparation will net you.
It was a very happy moment but per above, you need to be prepared for wherever the questioning may go. Be honest, be earnest. The consular officers are trained and conduct interviews all the time. They know what to ask about and where to probe.
I felt that they really do want to put good couples together, all that's needed it due process.
By the way, you can bring your mobile/I-products/cameras/electronica to the consulate, but will have to surrender it to a guard, once inside. They'll give you a number, just a like a "gardarob". My fiancée and I left everything at home, thinking that we would fall afoul of the admittance process but you do get an opportunity to "check your baggage" so to speak.
