I dealt with some very nice and energetic people. The wait wasn't too bad but I would suggest getting a good meal in beforehand.

We had our interview yesterday and here is the review! I'll just start by saying that everything went great and we were approved. My husband (the Canadian citizen) has an apartment in Montreal, so we left from there and went to have coffee (there is a Tim Hortons and a Second Cup just one street over from the consulate). We arrived at the consulate at about 7:25. There was someone else there. Then a family walked up too. The guard opened the door right at 7:30. Of course we had no large bags or purses or cell phones, etc. but the family who arrived after us did and the guard was a little bit harsh. He wouldn't let them even near the door and didn't even want to talk to them. He just told them to go away and come back without the bag. So don't bring anything large! Every other guard was nice. We sat kind of near the elevator, but soon after another couple came and they sat near the elevator. We didn't talk but I suspect they were VJ-ers because they were savy! Just like so... read complete review

We had our interview yesterday in Montreal. Based on other reviews of the Montreal Consulate, it was exactly like we were expecting it to be.

I am the USC and my wife is the Canadian. We stayed at the Hyatt (Priceline for only $75!) which is less than two full blocks walking distance from the consulate. From our room, you could see the consulate building one block over. I had read that some people had difficulty finding the consulate door or didn't think they were in the correct place, but I'm not sure how. It is clearly marked on the doors. It is a double set of glass doors with glass on both sides of those. The number of the building is marked over the doors, fairly large. On the doors and next to them, there are signs stating this is the consulate and hours of operation. It also states a brief security note about large bags and anything electronic. It is hard to miss as it is the only entrance on that block for the building, other than the fortified garage type door f... read complete review

My interview was June 28, 2010

I was very impressed by my experience at the Vancouver consulate. At the time, I worked close by, so I took the afternoon off work for my 1pm appointment (for locals: I could have made it back to work in Burnaby for the rest of the day, but chose not to).

The entrance to the embassy is on the right side of the building. I had to present my appointment letter and passport at the door, and the friendly security people searched my document folder looking for metal. Next I went through a metal detector and was accompanied up the elevator by security, who gave my directions for what to do next. There were just a few people paying this or that fee in the office, and only two others there for interviews. I brought a book to read while I waited, which I recommend, as there was a LOT of waiting to do.

At the first window, a staff person went through all my documents to make sure they were there, and in the righ... read complete review

It was a very snowy start to our morning. Interview was scheduled for 9am, but as line ups can start early we wanted to be there by 7:30. It took awhile to get our car out of he hotel parking garage, even though our hotel was a 5 min drive (test run night before) it took well over 20min to drive, park and get to the Consulate.
We arrived at the Consulate at 7:50 and had to wait for the security guards to let us through the doors. I had my binder with evidence, a small photo album and the x-ray in a reused shopping bag. These are allowed in the building but you aren't allowed any type of purses or handbags. After checking our IDs and screened throuh metal detectors, we were told to wait in the room for the elevator to arrive. We walked down the stars and there was a room fill of people...the elevator arrived and since we were already on the move, we were one of the first ones in. As we were told to do, being at the back of the elevator was the plan as the doors open at the back... read complete review
