Thank you to all VJ'ers , without whom, I would still be waiting for my Pkt 3 to arrive !!
I arrived about 7:25am and there was a line up of about 8 people.....but it quickly grew so thanks for all suggestions to get there early. ( 5 more minutes and I would have been half way down the street )
Shortly thereafter, the guard opened the door and asked to see passport and confirmation letter. ( he did refuse entry to people who had big purses and cel phones, so carry as little as possible with you).
Once through the outside door, I waited for customs/security officers to let me through the door to the screening area. Again passport and confirmation letter looked at. Just as with the last review I read here, my name was not on the master list but after calling another officer over, they decided since I had an appointment confirmation letter that they had to let me through ( PHEW - a few minutes of the heart skipping a few beats)
Once through security screening, they sent me downstairs to a waiting area by an elevator where we had to wait about 10 minutes or so for another guard to come and take us up to the 19th floor.
He called all immigrant visas so I got up and headed toward the elevator - he stopped me, looked at my letter and then said " oh ok" (??) - so I went up with the first group. ( I know the last reviewer wasn't allowed up with the immigrant visas but I was so I guess give a try and either way you'll end up on the 19th floor in either the first or 2nd group.
Once on the 19th floor- you line up in front of the first window , show your confirmation letter from Pkt 4 and are given a number. You then head over to the waiting area and watch for your number to flash on the screen. ( it flashes your ticket number and the number of the window or booth you have to go to - there seemed to be a few people confused at this so thought I'd just add that in there )
2nd booth - they take your passport, take fingerprints and take your sealed medical package.
Head back to the waiting area and wait til you are called again to another booth/window.
Here, they ask for all the rest of the documents required- originals and copies, I was asked if any information had changed ( since my fiance had moved since we filed I was able to change that right there - no problem )
Back to the waiting area again until you hear your name being called.
4th booth - this is where the really friendly lady is that everyone is talking about in their reviews - I bet she would be happy to know she puts a smile on people's faces )
When I went up she said " I love doing these visas! and told me that this would be quick and painless
Signed a few forms, got all original copies back, was asked how we met and then before I knew it I had 2 sheets of instructions. I must have looked confused or expecting to have to wait for something more because she then said " oh congratulations! " lol
She did say the visas are taking about a week at the moment to arrive.
I brought my xrays but did not need them. I was told that it is for the doctor in the US. I was also given back my list of vaccinations which I believe we will need for adjustment of status once in the States ( or part of that process anyway ) . I also did not need any proof of fiance relationship BUT I had it all ready just in case.
I went by myself but suggest having your fiance there with you if possible. ( for moral support really and having someone to hug when you get approved  I felt like jumping up and down and hugging anyone in the area ( which becomes very full very fast ) BUT thought the better of it :P might have gotten in a bit of trouble HA!
Anyway, it is not the friendliest place but very professional and efficient. From the line outside to leaving the consulate , I was about 2 and a quarter hours. Most of that is waiting.
