VERY IMPORTANT: Do not bring cell phones to the building in SF. They will not let you in to the building if your phone has a camera, and there is nowhere to store your phone. We took BART to the building so we had no car to go back to and drop off the phone. I ended up going across the street and stashing the phone under foliage in a planter box so that we could enter the building for our interview. Luckily it was there when we got back. So DO NOT bring a phone no matter what, or you wont be allowed in.

Our interview was at 8:15am, so we were one of the first of the day. We waited for about 2 minutes before being called. The interview lasted for about 10-15 minutes, but our situation is pretty cut and dried since I lived in my wife's country for 2 1/2 years and we dated for a year of that time, plus she had come to the U.S. to visit me before we got engaged. We were asked standard questions about each other's birthdays, how we met, and we also showed some docume... read complete review

Today May 19 was our interview in San Francisco.
We had to bring an interpreter just in case I was not allowed to translate, it was the good move.

Our appointment was at 8:15 AM and we arrived about 20 minutes early. It was hassle free getting into the building and to the reception area. We were called around 8:30 by the officer and she accommodated us inside her office. The only thing she asked for was: your current address, current phone number, your SSN and and am I still employed. She went to ask about 3-4 questions in the 485 -"are you planning on doing terrorism, have you received any financial support from the government, have you trafficked drugs"

Although we were approved, I would ADVISE and CAUTION those who used the Dr in Texas for "vaccination supplement". She raised eyebrows when she said that you live in California and you had a medical in Austin? After explaining my reason why I did what I did, she asked us to sign and date a ... read complete review

We had our interview based on VWP AOS. We had seen each other on several occasions in various countries and it was clear that we were a couple before i came here on vaction.

Arrived at the building 2 minutes late, not a problem, just sat down and waited. 20 minutes later we were called in by the nicest lady with beautiful long hair. She swore us in and we sat down. She mentioned within the first minute that she was leaning towards approving our case.
We had only a little evidence of a shared residence (1 utility bill, joint tax return, joint credit card from the UK), but that wasn't a problem as she acknowleged that newlyweds might not have much evidence yet. We went through my details (applicant) and I signed the changes she made on the form while she asked my wife about how we met and in particular, "when did the attraction first begin". my wife was unsure, so she asked me. we debated the date in a very married way and i think that was enough for her t... read complete review

We arrived for our appointment 20 minutes before our scheduled time and were quickly shown through the scanner and told to go to the second floor. We checked in at the reception and were asked to wait in Section E until a representative came to find us. We waited for approximately 15-20 minutes (10 minutes past our scehduled time) before a Phillipino gentleman came to get us and escort us to the interview room. The interviewer was very pleasant and relaxed. He made us swear under oath and then asked for our CA ID cards and passports. He went through our file and asked questions about how met, where we were married, how many people attended, how did it go when our parents met for the first time, etc. He asked for any supporting documents we wished to submit - we gave him some wedding photos and copies of joint credit card statements. He then looked through some photo albums we had brought with us. Throughout the interview he made us feel relaxed (as much as possible) and was very friend... read complete review

MARCH 7 2007

All in all the experience was painless. The biggest stress was waiting for our tardy lawyer. She told us not to sign in until she got there, and she would be there 15 minutes before our appointment, but she didn’t show up until 3 minutes before our appointment, while we were signing in. That aside it was not too stressful.

We arrived at the San Francisco office 45 minutes prior to the appointment and there was quite a line up outside of the building. The same deal as the consulate, show your appointment letter and passport, metal detector, no cell phones with cameras, no electronics, no food or drink. We saw several people get sent back out to dispose of their cell phones. Someone should set up an electronics babysitting service! It took us about 20 minutes to get through the line and up to the waiting room. We checked in and were called in about 15 minutes past our interview time. Our officer was very nice and soft-spoken; he worked... read complete review
