We had our interview today and the I-130 was approved, but the I-485 (AOS) was not approved (pending name check). Since we only got married a few months ago this was no surprise to us.
Here is the story:
We got to the building a little early, went through the weapons screening area, and were sent upstairs to suite 300 to wait. At the entryway you leave your appointment letter in a little black tray on the right.
There were other people there with their lawyers. I got the feeling we were the only folks with no lawyer.
There was a TV on in the corner(CNN), an old copy of National Geographic to read, and LOTs of festive X-Mas decorations all over the place. I wonder if USCIS staff have heard of the separation of church and state?
At 12:30, our interviewer came and called my hubby's name. We both trooped into the interview room with a box of photos, some manila files and our heavy coats (it's cold... read complete review

We had our interview in Bloomington today. Things started out really stressfully- we parked on the wrong side of the building, so the first two doors we went to were employee only, then we noticed the sign saying to go around to the other side, the third door we went to was also wrong...fourth try we got in!
We waited about 25 minutes, were called in, and swore to tell the truth. Then the interviewer started saying how he hadn't approved anyone all day, including a couple right before us also from New Zealand! I started feeling really nervous.
He asked for our drivers licenses, SS cards, Matt's EAD and passport. He asked some questions about how we met and what I did and what Matt did. We joked around quite a bit. He asked to see the dental insurance paperwork I had, and asked to see my passport (to see proof that I lived in NZ for a year), but we didn't have it with because it's temporarily (I hope!) misplaced. He made a comment about how if the ci... read complete review

Our interview was in Bloomington, MN and we were in the waiting room fifteen minutes before the scheduled time. We were called in half an hour later. We were administered the oath, and were informed that our interview would be observed.
Before the observer came in, we handed the interviewer our IDs, my EAD and AP, and a 1.5 inch stack of copies of proof of relationship documents.
The observer came in and the interview started. I was asked my name, address, SS#, DOB, place of birth, parents' names, if I'd been married before, if I had any children or step children anywhere in the world. My husband was also asked the marriage and children questions. Our interviewer asked how we met. We were asked if family members had attended our wedding, and we pulled out the album. Our observer looked through the album, and seemed to enjoy the occasional goofy pictures thrown in. We were asked about our future plans as a family, if and when we plan on having ... read complete review

The interview was a piece of cake. The officer was really nice and he talked to my son about sports and his school. He of course wanted to see various "original documents" ... which we had. I also offered up our wedding album and pictures of the honeymoon at Disney (that we took my son and his two kids to with us). He looked through our file and looked up some stuff on the computer (don't know what). It all took about 20 minutes and he then told us everything looked fine but he couldn't give us our approval because my name check hadn't come through yet. He said the earliest to start looking for it would be October !!

We had our interview at the Bloomington office and had a great experience. A female officer called us in on time, swore us in, and then went through the basic information (address, ss #, etc) to make sure everything was right. Then she asked us how we met, smiled, looked at a few photos and said "I can approve you today!" She stamped my wife's passport and said the card should arrive in a few days. Our experience there was great...everyone was very friendly. I hope you all have the same experience. Best of luck!!!
