Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Hi,
We had our interview in New Orleans earlier today. We got there 20 minutes early and waited for about 30 mintues. I was surprised when they called my name. I am the petitioner. I asked if my husband needed to come and she said only me for now. I was confused because I was thinking we would be interviewed together. I was wrong. She asked for my license and made me swear to tell the truth. Then she proceeded to ask me questions. How did we meet, what website, who proposed, when did he propose, how many days did you stay in Nigeria, did you meet his family and who did you meet, after I told her that I met his parents and brothers/sister she wanted names. She asked if I had siblings and wanted to know their names. Wanted to know his birthday, how did we celebrate my birthday, what was the name of the restaurant we went to in order to celebrate, wanted to know how we celebrated Christmas. She wanted to know where we got married and I told her the city, who attended, where was th... read complete review

We were both so nervous about that interview. A good thing the hotel is 1 minute away from the USCIS building...

Once arrived there, we still had almost one hour to wait cause our appointment was at 1.30pm, and of course you have to leave the hotel room by 11am.

Everyone was smiling and that helped us to relax. At the same time they were preparing everything for a ceremony. I think it was for those who had obtained their citizenship. So we ended up waiting in the hall

At 1.30 exactly a young man calls us. He makes us swear to tell the truth, only the truth, then we sit...
He's very friendly, no black glasses and no "Mister Anderson!"
He starts to ask me a couple of questions, my name, birth date, parents first name (easy) and he checks everything, just to be sure i didn't make any mistake when i filled the forms. Once again i have to answer that I'm not a terrorist, i don't sell drugs, etc.
Then he... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

I had my Adjustment of Status interview on 11-04-08 (Election day) at 10:00 a.m.

My husband and I arrived in New Orleans at about 9:10 am and stayed in the car in the parking lot adjacent to CIS building until about 9:30 a.m.

Once we got inside the building, we went to the third floor. We pass through the security check (my husband's belt buckle set off the alarm). The officer then asked us if we had an interview. After saying 'yes' asked us to place it in the drop box window and then have a seat.

We took a seat amongst the some 100 people that were in the waiting room. At about 10:10 am, we were called. We were immediately asked to raise our right hands and were sworn in. Here are the questions asked/ things asked for:

1) Husband and wife's ID
2) Husband and daughter's birth certificate
3) Joint Bank Account
4) Husband job letter to show he is still employed (His letter was dated April 2008)
5) My... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

My wife and I were married Nov '07. She came to the US in June '07, we were not intending to marry at the time and she came here as a tourist. We completed and sent all our paperwork the end of November. There were only two problems I can remember. We had to go for biometrics a second time because the fingerprints didn't take the first time. The other problem we had was the physical. The forms were not completed correctly by the civil surgeon. This was the same c.s. who failed to tell us, after she tested positive for TB, most people from Europe would not pass the TB test because of a vaccine they were given when they were young. My wife thought she had TB until we did some research on the net. If anyone is in SW La, I don't recommend the c.s. in Pt Arthur even if she is the closest available.
Anyway, we completed everything ourself using the info from this site. The agent that interviewed us was great. Do be over prepared, take a few pictures, tax info, copies of everything an... read complete review
