And so is the story of a very strange day in my life...
I arrived in London about 7.30am and headed to the Embassy. On the way I passed 'Goulds Pharmacy' - which is a place you need to go to drop off any electrical items you have about you. The Embassy don't allow things like camera's, phones, i-pods, even head phones... so if you have these, just take a visit to Goulds Pharmacy first. It costs a flat fee of £5 to store your belongings.
My appointment was meant to be at 8.30am, but I joined the queue and they didn't mind that I was early.
After lining up I passed through 'security' which is just like the airport, but a lot less stressful. You can keep your shoes on for a start. You're in and out of there pretty quickly.
From here it's just a short walk around the building to the main entrance. I walked there with a scruffy looking guy with long grey hair and a Led-Zep T-Shirt... it turns out he was a roadie with 'UB40' - and ... read complete review

Dont want to replicate everything that everyone else has written, so will try to keep it short. I made my way down from Bond Street Tube station, which is a very short walk. If you need to drop phones off, key fobs etc which you cant take into the embassy- you can drop them in at Goulds Pharmacy on North Audley St which you pass on the way. I had a 9 am interview, but started queueing outside at 7.45am and was in the building for 8am, so my advice is to get there early. I was 5th in line (ticket 5005) and was seen by 8.50am, a very pleasant guy took some of my documents, took fingerprints and photos.( it helps if all your documents are easy to hand or in a nice folder, so there is no faffing around). I then jumped to the next window to pay the fee (£91) then sat down for about an hour or so and waited for my number to be called again and spent the time like the other 100 people there staring intently at the big screens. i took a book to pass the time but i kept thinking id heard my... read complete review

Sorry i didnt post my review sooner, been busy getting things organised for my departure on the 26th March
So i stayed at the Marble Arch Inn Hotel the night before as my interview was at 8:30am.
My day started at 6:30am by waking up and jumping in the shower to get myself awake and fresh for what i thought would be a long day ahead. After getting dressed and all that, i set out the door at 7:20 for an easy 15 minute stroll to the Embassy which i had planned the route the day before, stopping off for a newspaper on the way for some decent reading material about United kicking Inter Milans arse the night before.
I arrived at the Embassy at a respectable 7:45 to see that there was already a good 30-35 people in line, there was me thinking i would be right at the front, ha. So after about 10 minutes in line you are asked to show your appointment letter to a woman just before entering the security doors, oh might i add that there are sig... read complete review

I hopped on the tube after paying £7.20 for a day ticket and jumped on the northern Victoria line. It was the same journey I made the last month for my medical. I LOVE the London Underground. It’s London’s most redeeming feature. You can get a tube train every 3 minutes and be virtually anywhere in the city centre in minutes. I’m like an albatross when it comes to navigating by tube. Not that albatrosses are renowned for being good tube navigators. It’s just a silly metaphor that really didn’t need explaining.
I switched over and caught the Jubilee line north to Bond Street. Up at street level, I flipped open the compass Lauren gave me (yes! I actually USED it!) and consulted my mini-map (it was about 3” square) and headed south down Davies Street. Then turned right onto Brook street which led me right to Grosvenor Square.
Ahead of me, I saw the US Embassy. I was disappointed. I’d been expecting some imposing looking building, with high bri... read complete review

I had my interview time for 8 am 6th March 2009
I arrived at the embassy at 7.30 am after leaving my phone and electronic car keys at Gould Pharmacy down the road from the Embassy
I went to the line outside handed over my interview letter and passport and then went through security where they scanned all items that I was bringing in, from there you walk around the outside to the steps to the waiting room.
I was sitting there at 7.20 at 8 the windown opened and it they stated calling the numbers out, I was number 5003 and was called to window 14 at around 8.20.
The gentleman asked for my passport and pictures took my fingerprints, and then asked for birth certificate and copy, I only had an adoption certificate that he said he would have to check if it was ok, which I was not to worried about as it said on packet 3 birth or adoption certificate. I then handed over the police record and a copy, I 134 and supporting documents tax return... read complete review
