I had my interview time for 8 am 6th March 2009
I arrived at the embassy at 7.30 am after leaving my phone and electronic car keys at Gould Pharmacy down the road from the Embassy
I went to the line outside handed over my interview letter and passport and then went through security where they scanned all items that I was bringing in, from there you walk around the outside to the steps to the waiting room.
I was sitting there at 7.20 at 8 the windown opened and it they stated calling the numbers out, I was number 5003 and was called to window 14 at around 8.20.
The gentleman asked for my passport and pictures took my fingerprints, and then asked for birth certificate and copy, I only had an adoption certificate that he said he would have to check if it was ok, which I was not to worried about as it said on packet 3 birth or adoption certificate. I then handed over the police record and a copy, I 134 and supporting documents tax returns W2 employer letter, house valuation, pay stubs, 401K statement, and savings statement. I was handed back my chest x rays and told to go to desk 12 to pay for the visa which I think was £92 as I have already lost the receipt hahah.
Then I was told to go back to the waiting room and then wait for my number to be called for the interview, but had to return back to counter 14 twice first time to retrieve my hand bag and second for my x ray, yes I am a bit forgetfull under stress haha
I had to wait till 9.20 to get called to counter 15 for my interview, I had my fingerprints taken again and asked to raise my right hand and swear I would tell the truth. The questions I was asked were how I met my fiance, when was the first time we met in person as we had met online, how many times we had met in person, what his job was, what his job intailed, had I met any of his family and where they live. During the questioning he was typing on his computer not sure if he was putting my answers down or just checking the answers were correct. He then told me he was going to have to check with his supervisor about my adoption certificate as he had never seen one, but not to worry I was getting married he just had to check, which I thought was very nice of him. Did not have to show any supporting evidence e-mails, photo's and phone recrods etc
With that resolved he asked if I had filled in my courier form which I had not been given, apparantly it should be given when you hand over the documents the first time, So he just spoke to the guy in the next counter where I had first gone and gave it to me. he told me I had 6 months to leave and 90 days to get married when I entered the States.
I want and paid I thing £14.50 for the courier, left the building had a fag and smiled and smiled yay I am getting married
No complaints at all, bit of an anti climax after all the waiting done previously in the K1 process
I was out by 10 so a little more than 2 hours and most of that was waiting time if no waiting you could be in and out in 15 mins
Big thanks to Louis the man that interviewed me and made my dreams come true
