So I arrived at the Embassy at 7.30am for a 9am interview. There were around 20 people in the queue. I went through security and walked up the steps to reception where i was given ticket 5002. Phew, I was glad I got a low number.
I took a seat in what seemed like Argos. I was disappointed with the inside of the Embassy. I think it could do with some updating or at least some air con.
I was so nervous while sat waiting in that room. All sorts were going through my mind..wot if I failed the medical? Silly really, thinking back!

At 8.45 I was called upto the 1st window & asked for passport, 2 pics, birth cert & copy, police cert & copy, I-134 & tax return (no W2's or 1099's which surprised me as my fiance is self employed). Then I was given a pink slip & told to sit & wait.

Then at 9.45am my number was called & my heart was racing. Eeek this is it!
I was hoping that I didn't get the red head woman I've heard horrid stories about & I was ... read complete review

I made my way to the U.S Embassy from Victoria Station (Victoria line to Green Park, then the Jubilee line to Bond Street). I did get a little lost because a police officer directed me in the wrong direction but quickly got that sorted. Dropped my phone and mp3 off at the pharmacy.

There was no line outside, even though it was 8:30am, so I went straight in through security.. was given a number (5019) and told to wait for my number to be called. It must have been around 3 and a half hours when I was called to the window. The man asked for my passport, photographs, birth certificate and police certificate... he asked if I had the financial evidence such as the 134 form, and some supporting document, so I gave him a tax form for both my fiance and our co-sponsor.

He then told me to pay for the visa service in the window next to us, and come back.. then gave me a pink slip and told me to go back to the waiting room, where I waited another hour or so to be cal... read complete review

My interview was at 0830hrs on the 28th of April, 2009.

I arrived by train and tube at Bond street and as I had walked my journey using google streetview, I knew exactly where I was and where to go. I arrived at Goulding pharmacy promptly at 0730, as they opened and stashed my electronic devices. I still had a normal-sized rucksack with paperwork in, a pen and some food and drink inside.

I lined up outside for about 30 minutes initially, from 0735 roughly, before noticing that my line went to a bunch of students and not the entrance...it was a check-in line for Camp America and because you couldn't see the front of the line, I'd thought it was for the Embassy. nevertheless, after walking up to the now empty line for the embassy, a lot of people who'd been doing the same followed. I got through security fine, had to take my belt off and had to take a swig of my bottled water, to prove it wasn't dangerous.

Next, I walked around the side of th... read complete review

I was flying in from Belfast, so I left the house at 5am in a taxi bound for Belfast City airport. I arrived in Stansted just before 8, and got the 8 o'clock Stansted express into London. My interview was at 9, so I knew I was cutting it close. At Liverpool Street station I got on the Tube for Bond Street, which took about 10 minutes. A short run to Grosvenor Square later, and I was there, only 20 minutes late; whoops!

I needn't have worried though, no one mentioned anything, and I think I looked suitably ruffled and out of breath. There wasn't much of a queue thankfully, and in less than 10 minutes, I was inside the embassy. I took my number from the front desk (5024!), and headed up the stairs and through the door. The room was absolutely packed, and it was a hot day, which didn't really help with the atmosphere.

I found a seat at the far end of the room and sat down. According to the screen, they were serving immigrant visa number 5012 or something, so... read complete review

Arrived at 8.15 for a 9am interview to discover it was raining despite being fairly sunny when I got on the tube in South London. A raincoat would have been good as there is a fairly lengthy queue outside the embassy to get in, or rather 3 queues you have to do one after the other before going through the security check. The staff outside were pretty friendly and the two blokes inside the security building were a barrel of laughs, and it was good to be able to crack a smile at that point as the nerves were beginning to build. Once past security you have to round two sides of the building before going in. You get your ticket inside the lobby and then into the waiting area proper. All the different visa wait there but that morning there were 24 people with 5000 (immigrant) numbers that morning and I was 5014. There were a lot more going for work/student visas etc. I couldn't work out which order they called people in but the 5000 queue moves at a lot slower rate. There are big screens ... read complete review
