Review Topic: K3 Visa

Interview Monday 20th April 2009....Well what can I say...relieved and disappointed at the same time. My husband is a U.S Citizen and we have been married for 18 months next month....known each other for 4 years....time has been spent visiting each other here and in the States, in all that time. I visited twice last year for 3 months at a time. We filed for the I-130 in November and the K3 in January when I returned to the UK....we decided that whichever was the faster, I would leave the country on. In March both petitons were approved....but as our attorneys told us the K3 would be faster we stuck with that one, and the I-130 is on hold till I adjust status. I travelled down to London on the 19th April, and stayed in a hotel overnight so I could do a trial run and make sure I was on time for my 9.00am appointment. I arrived around 7.50am to find around 20 people already waiting outside I was as nervous as hell, but within 30 minutes I was inside the building, sitting waiting for my number to be called. I was number 5006. I was very surprised that by 9am I had been called to window number 1...handed over all copies of my certificates and my photographs, paid my visa fee, and had my finger prints taken on both hands. I was then told to sit down and wait for my number to be called again for my interview. The waiting seemed to take forever but after 2 hours I was called to window number 16....NOT what I was expecting ... (I was surprised that it wasn't conducted in a private room, sitting across a desk) I was asked about 10 questions, when did we get married....how and where did we meet...when did we both get divorced...where did he work...handed over my husband's latest tax return and given back the original copies of all my certificates. The only problem was....that I had submitted an I-864(because our attorneys told us to, as they had already prepared it for when I go for my Green Card) and the woman behind the glass screen told me I needed to submit an I-134(even though it doesn't say you need to submit either when you read the Embassy Website)...so I was handed a blue form with a tick in the box to tell me that I needed that form and to call the courier to collect it and my passport once I had it....Needless to say I left feeling happy it was all over...but SOoooooooo depressed that I still had to wait I called my husband up the minute I got out of there and told him to get on to our attorneys to send me by Fed EX express the I-134 form...and it arrived yesterday! I arranged with the secure mail services a collection this morning between 6-8am although the driver was late, and didn't actually arrive till 8.40am I am told that the form and my passport will be with the Embassy tomorrow. Due to it being the weekend, I have no idea when my visa will be dealt with??...but I am hoping not too long....it has seemed a very long wait for my husband and I to be together..and we are tired of spending so much time apart... we had hoped to be together by this weekend....but SADLY that will NOT be the case All in all...I can say I was impressed with the Embassy...it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be...and didn't take as long....of course I will be HAPPY when I finally get the visa and can book my ticket out of here......I PRAY it is only a COUPLE of days!!!
