Well, it did not go as smoothly as I hoped.
I'll get straight to the actual interview, everything else was very fast and efficient.
I was literally grilled with approximately 30 questions regarding our relationship. It started with the usual, 'how did you meet' and was everything else including quizzing me on my knowledge of the time difference between here and NC 'so, what day do you typically call him? What time is that? And so what time is that for him?', his parents names, addresses, siblings personal details, his work details, dates of each visit, and so on. Fortunately I could answer all of the questions easily but she was very thorough to put it politely, probably because she was training someone. Then I got even more questions regarding child custody.
She has filled out the dreaded blue form before I had even arrived at the desk and wanted a notarised affadavit for child custody. i had provided a statement from the courts here to prove I have sole parental custody and a letter explaining it all in detail from a lawyer. She was a total jobs-worth and wanted a sworn statement too. So once I have got this back to her, we should get our visas within 5 business days of her receiving it.
All in all, quite a disappointing, upsetting and (even more than I expected) expensive day because I didn't get approved right away. I did arrive at 7.30am for my 9am appointment, and left the embassy at 9am, so they were very efficient and everyone bar the officer was very friendly.
