Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Ok so I had an appointment at 8.30, i did want to arrive early but wanted to have breakfast at the hotel which was at 7.30 (good idea to fill yourself up as you will be waiting a while!) so i ended up getting to the embassy at 8.15. There was around 10/15 people outside so i was through security and sitting in the waiting area at 8.25am.
There was around 200 people waiting in the waiting room but there were still many seats free. I got number I862 - was expecting 5000+ as going for IR1 but i guess not. Anyway they were very very slow at calling the I numbers, at some points there were no I people at any of the windows (as on the screen it shows which number is as which window.)
At 10am I was called to window, British guy checked through docs, asked couple of questions, ticked a checklist, asked when i would be travelling etc. He already has 2 passport photos of me so waste of 9.99 for the 2 new ones i had got done for interview!!!
Anyway got told to fill in courier... read complete review

They were very quick and didn't require all the forms listed for people processing in the US. We did DCF as we both reside in the UK. We are at 'packet 3' stage and are trying to expedite the process.

So nothing new or surprising with my husband's interview.

He left his phone and ipod at Gould's for six pounds right around 7:30am. Into the embassy for his 8am appointment pretty easily. A little waiting then at the first window they went through his file, saw that everything was in order, looked at his passport and took his fingerprints. They didn't even want new passport photos even though the ones we sent to NVC were awful.

More waiting, then he got called up to the friendly American guy interviewer who had already been through the file. Checked his fingerprints, made him swear to tell the truth etc. then asked only one question. "How did you meet your wife?" Then he said he was approved and it was off to pay the courier.

He was also given his x-ray, birth certificate and our marriage certificate back but not the police certificate. He was out a little after 10am. All in all it was thankfully very easy and painfree.

My interview was for 8.00am on 31st July 2009. Fortunately this had coincided with my husband being in the UK for summer shut down so it was great that he could come along. Arrived in good time to get a coffee at Starbucks and then put the electronics into Goulds Pharmacy at 7.30am. Joined the visa queue straight afterwards and had passed through security and we were seated and waiting for our appointment by 7.55am. Our ticket was called at around 08.10am and we were dealt with by a serious lady who went through my paperwork with a fine tooth comb. She picked up on something that hadn't been asked for by USCIS or NVC and that was that I had changed my name by deed poll after my divorce. Neither USCIS or NVC had asked for my change of name deed, but this lady did!!!! Fortunately I had brought the document with me, but had I not done so, it could have affected the outcome - pphheewww!!! Once she had copied this document and answered a few basic questions, we were issued with a pi... read complete review

Wife US citizen, in USA
Me UK citizen, currently in UK
First met online, June 2001, touched May 2002
Travelled/stayed for extended periods in both countries
Married in the UK 17 months ago, have 2 children, one born in UK, other US.
Decided that we would settle in USA.

Caught the train to London from Birmingham Intl Station, takes around 1.15hr, arrived at Euston, caught tube to nearest exit top embassy.

Appointment time was 8.30, got there at 8.10, small line outside the embassy, with security/assistants, over heard that you are not allowed to take any electronics in, for example, mobile phone, remote key fobs, also, only a small bag is allowed. Up to you to sort out where to leave them, they do give you a bit of paper with a few shops/cafes suggested as places you may leave electronic items, but all at your own risk etc etc...

I decided to leave them at passport photo shop on Oxford St, about 3 mins away ... read complete review
