Hi all. Paul was able to move our interview up to the 29th (8 am) when I was visiting which was great. We took the train down on Monday and made our way to the hotel which was not as close as it looked on the map. It was in Kensington. But a very nice walk. The appt was at 8 am Tuesday so we checked the bus route, planned our trip and went to bed early. Luckily we did b/c at 2 am the next door neighbors at the hotel started talking loudly. After an hour we started banging on the wall and after another hour we called down to the hotel people and they came up and asked them to be quiet. Next morning, we grabbed the bus and made our way down. Showed up at 7:30, got in line and made our way into the building. At 8 the individuals started raising their shades to help people. Lots and lots of N's, this must be for the student visa. Then booth 1's shade went up and we saw I851 - yay that is us. I think we ran over there in 2 sec flat. Paul p... read complete review

My husband arrived at the US Embassy in London at around 8:15 for his appointment at 8:30. We contemplated spending the night in a hotel the night before the interview but decided that would be a lot of expense so my husband took the train into London from our home in Essex at around 6:30 am and arrived in plenty of time for his interview. I (the USC) stayed at home with our 5 month old baby.
We had been to the Embassy several times for other things such as renewing my US passport and birth abroad birth certificates for a US citizen. We were a bit confused when the website said not to bring any electrical devices because as we had been there before we knew that you could bring mobile phones, etc. but then had to leave them in the little building outside the embassy and they would give you a number to collect your things when you were finished in the embassy, but for whatever reason this is not the way it works for visas for immigrants. We think it may have something ... read complete review

Well, I took the train down from Glasgow the day before, arrived into Euston just after 3pm and made my way to Marble Arch Inn (about 45 mins walk). The hotel is actually very good value for money (£45 for a double room - not bad for central London). Clean bedsheets and satellite TV - breakfast is a basket of frosties, yoghurt pot and a croissant.
Next morning my interview wasn't until 10am, so made my way there about 8:30 (about 10 min walk) and found Gould's Pharmacy on the way. Dropped off my mobile phone and bag (they check inside the bag for electrical items and charge separately - so, £6 total). Quick espresso at cafe next door and I was ready.
The queue outside the embassy was quite lengthy at this time (9am) so, allow a good 30 mins for this part. Security check your appointment letter and passport and then, after you pass through the metal detector (airport style) you make your way round the side of the building, up some stairs and into receptio... read complete review

I have to admit no matter how many good reviews I had read about the interviews and no matter how many times I went through my paperwork I was convinced someting was going to go wrong. But I will say now, nothing did
I had a 9am appointment but also needed to get some photos taken. I planned on getting to Gould Pharmacy for my photos around 7.30 to 8.00 so I would not feel rushed.
I got off the train at Marylebone at 7.15am and jumped on the tubes to Marble Arch. Gould Pharmacy is only a 5 minute walk from there. By the time I had got myself a much needed coffee I arrived at Gould's around 7.50am. They open at 7.30am and there was already a line of people wanting to drop of their electrical items for safe keeping. I didn't have anything on me, but it seemed like the cost was about £3 per item. I needed some photos so went to the counter at the far end of the store. A quick snap and a 5 minute wait I had my photos J... read complete review

Apart from one personal issue, this was overall a pleasant experience. Unfortunately we would need further financial support and therefore my application was suspended. I was pretty shocked when told we would need a co-sponsor and burst into tears from the pressure of the whole situation, at the time feeling like it was NEVER going to work out and knowing I'd be missing yet another Christmas with my love, however, the people that I saw were kind and understanding. In addition, I was able to mail in the required information and not have to return for a second interview, after which my visa was granted within days (arrived Christmas eve- my best present!)
From the time of my arrival to the time I left was probably 2 1/2 -3 hours although the time for the actual 'interview' (which by the way was like being at the post office) was probably no more than 10 minutes. The interviewer was kind yet professional and I could tell he simply wanted/needed to establish my motivation a... read complete review
