Arrived at the london embassy about 8-00am ( Interview was 9-00)thought i would be first there...Jesus the queue was huge already, it took me about 20 mins to get through to security. Scanned me no probs , then made my way to the front desk were they printed my I no and barcode and stuck it on my letter. Then made my way to the main hall and sat down with the rest of the people. Waited about 30 mins untill my no was called out and went to window 1. The oriental lady behind the screen asked me for various forms but she talked so quiet and fast i could hardly tell what she was saying, gave her what she wanted and she asked me to sign the DS- 230, so i asked to borrow her pen ( i forgot mine) Jesus she wasn't impressed she mumbled " why haven't you brought your own" Ooops i forgot it i said...Again.. mumble mumble under her breath. She finally.. kind of tossed under the counter... cheers !! i said, i signed and she told me to go and pay the visa fee at another window. Off i went and payed... read complete review

Appointment was at 9am. After dropping off luggage at St Pancras and electronics at Gould's pharmacy, joined the queue outside the embassy at around 8.30. It took about 30 minutes to get through security so I got my ticket number at around 9am.

At around 10am I was called to window 1. My finger prints were taken, and I was asked for my DS157 since I had not included it in the items I sent to the embassy. I signed two copies of one of the DS156 I'd originally sent in. Then I was asked for my passport, birth certificate and copy, police certificate and copy and the affidavit of support. I was handed my X-ray in an envelope and told to put it in my suitcase when traveling. I was sent to window 12 to pay, returned to window 1 to hand in my receipt and sat back down to wait.

It took around 40 minutes before I was called to window 16. I was given back my original documents. I was asked to swear that I was telling the truth before signing the DS156K and printi... read complete review

I travelled to London early, dropped all my electronics at goulds pharmacy which cost me £5. Also be aware you need 2 American sized passport photos, which can also be done at goulds.

My interview was for 9:30 am... I arrived at 8, and trust me brace yourself for wait. Well after 20 minutes of waiting and getting checked over, I finally went into the embassy. Handed them my letter and was given a number....

3 hours later....

I was asked to go to window 13, he took my fiancées W2 and proof of support. My criminal record check, my Birth certificate and he asked me to pay the fee then give him the receipt. He then gave me a pink paper to fill in then asked me to take a seat.

30 minutes later....

I was called to window 15, had my finger prints taken and was asked questions about how I met my fiancée and when we planned to marry... What state he lived in and how long he had lived there, what was the exact date we ... read complete review

No problems in at 8:30 out by 11:45 but was told it was a quiet day.

Make sure that you are prepared so you are not scrambling round for papers at the window as they seem to hate that. the lady at the first window was very slow and then got a little exhasperated with me when I was getting the docs out to pass her even though I was as prepared as I possibly could be.

The actually consolate officer who said yes or no (yes in my case) was lovely though.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Got there and got in. Got called after a few hours. Officer said 'how did you get in here - you don't have an appointment - how did you get past security'
Showed him the appointment letter. Apparently they had re dated it but I left home before receiving it. Anyway he went and spoke to a manager and then I got my interview and he allowed it. He actually gave me an unconditional GC visa as I was so close to the 2 years and would be over it by the time I landed.

I was crumpled as we had booked flights/accommodation - everything
I couldn't recover from all the on and off stuff and the despair for a year

The whole Gc was incredibly stressful. Never again.
