Arrived at the london embassy about 8-00am ( Interview was 9-00)thought i would be first there...Jesus the queue was huge already, it took me about 20 mins to get through to security. Scanned me no probs , then made my way to the front desk were they printed my I no and barcode and stuck it on my letter. Then made my way to the main hall and sat down with the rest of the people. Waited about 30 mins untill my no was called out and went to window 1. The oriental lady behind the screen asked me for various forms but she talked so quiet and fast i could hardly tell what she was saying, gave her what she wanted and she asked me to sign the DS- 230, so i asked to borrow her pen ( i forgot mine) Jesus she wasn't impressed she mumbled " why haven't you brought your own" Ooops i forgot it i said...Again.. mumble mumble under her breath. She finally.. kind of tossed under the counter... cheers !! i said, i signed and she told me to go and pay the visa fee at another window. Off i went and payed, the guy gave me 1 receipts, one for me to keep and one for my " friend", i went back to the Oriental lady and gave her the receipt.. " Where is the main one " she sniffed..He only gave me these 2 i said, she kinda snatched one off me and again mumbled and then stabled it to the forms. She then took my fingerprints and then said.. go take a seat and wait for your no to be called again.
I waited about 40 mins and went through to another window. This time time it was an American guy who said "good morning how are you today " (More like it)
We made small talk, he was a charming guy. He asked me about a minor court conviction and then said that it's no problem. Then asked me to " hold my right hand up and solemly declare etc etc " which i did. Then he asked me where we met and how we met, were i was going to live ( Chicago) and that was about it. He checked my fingerprints again and continued on about how he was approving my visa ( YES !!) and how my passsport would arrive in the purple bag and not to open the brown envelope untill i got to POE in Chicago. Then he said the words i wanted to hear... "WELCOME TO AMERICA"..... He then directed me to courier desk to pay for my pasport to be sent back to me and ended with " Have a nice day ".. A real nice guy. Off i went to pay the courier and was out of there. All in all i was in there about 2 hours. Apart from the stroppy oriental lady who needs a charm lesson, a painless experiance.
