Pros: 5 minutes of talking to actual consul, no tricky questions, kind, open, professional people, easy to follow process.
Cons: 2 hours worth of waiting in a somewhat tightly packed space with not even a water fountain (water was available to buy on the first floor, but you were told to remain in the waiting space as you would not hear being called otherwise).
Overall: a breeze.
We came in 20 minutes in advance and breezed through the initial checks (passports, interview confirmation letter, etc), gave the cell phone for keeping at the enterance. An administrator girl even joked around with us, calling Anton "bride" (in Russia K1 is commonly referred to as "the bride visa", even some of the documents just stated "bride", not "bride / groom"). Easy to follow dots glued to the floor, and an identification number by which they call you - the whole process was very well thought out.
The only time I freaked out was when the consul assistant was gatherin... read complete review

Hi, everyone!
Had my interview on the 20 of July. I had my interview scheduled for 9:45 and was at the consulate 30 minutes before my interview. I left the building almost at 12 am.
I was a little bit scared before my interview, but it went really well.
When i came to the building there already was a line. But it moved pretty quickly. Can't stress that enough: read the instructions carefully and DO NOT bring perfume, headphones or other restricted items. Despite all the warnings, there were a lot of people who had to hide their stuff in the alley behind the embassy.
When u come in the building and the security guard is checking your bag u have to tell him that you are here for K1 visa - he will cross you out from his list. Then you have to wait in the line to get through the gate (helpful tip: don't wear metal belts). When u go inside u have to stand in line again to get to a window where they will tell you where to go. Later some... read complete review

Hello everyone!!! The following is a review of our experience at the US embassy in Moscow, Russia.... Our appointment was set by the NVC for June 29 @ 8am (most appointments are set for 8am) I highly recommend staying at People Hostel the night before your interview. It is located on the same street as the embassy literally just steps away. It is clean, comfortable and cheap. My wife booked us a room about a month in advance for 2000 rubles. Trust me you don't want to be running around the city by metro trying to get to your interview on time. Play it safe and stay at people hostel you won't regret it. So with documents on hand we decided to head over to the interview at 7:10am to be one of the first on line. We arrived at the embassy by 7:15 and there were already about 20 people waiting there. Make sure you have passports, interview letter and document delivery letter in your hand to show the security officer in the first line. After he verifies that you have an interview he... read complete review

My fiance arrived there at 0930 and waited with a bunch of other people waiting to enter the consulate, they checked her appointment confirmation and checked her bag (just a simple plastic one with all the documentation). She didn't bring a cell phone or even a belt, so once they started letting people in, it was pretty fast.
She was instructed to go to the area where they handle K-1 visas (and other immigrant visa types presumably), and after they took her paperwork, they had her sit in the hallway there until she was called up for her interview. I believe she mentioned it took about an hour before she was called.
The interview itself was fast, just simple questions about our relationship, how we met, if we had a date for the wedding yet, etc. The consular officer did read through our (very trimmed down, but still ~100 pages worth of) emails/whatsapp chat logs, but not super carefully, just to get a gist of what they contained I guess. She then said the v... read complete review
