We had our interview for the K1 visa, in Moscow, on March 15, 2016. The CO was very pleasant, but left things open ended. The appointment time was for 9:30 am and we did not meet with her, until way after noon. The interview was brief, lasting maybe 5 minutes. She only took a small portion of our emails and no Skype conversations. She also told me that my bank statements and employment letter was not needed. The officer told us to check the website for further information, but did not indicate as to whether or not we received the visa.
All in all, it was a confusing experience. I felt bad, when questioned about our meeting only once and the fact that I was only coming to see my fiance in Russia, for the first time. I'm not a wealthy woman and I'm doing my best to make sure we have enough for the affidavit of support. I simply cannot run to Russia, every time I wish. I also work. Finally, there was the question about meeting on a dating sight. I don't understand why t... read complete review

Elena received instructions from the Embassy in Bern and had to send back the checklist signed that all our documents were ready. The Consulate wrote "Do not try to contact us, we will call you and schedule your appointment as soon as we are ready". Elena waited and waited and there were no news. She decided to call them and they seemed like they'd forgotten about our case, so good thing she called. The interview itself was mainly administrative revision of our documents. Elena was asked a few basic questions about our relationships and how we met. Nothing too hard. She was told that the visa was approved and would be printed out within the next 3-4 business days. We were happy waiting, but again there were no news after a few days. We tracked it online (US Embassy in Bern), saw that it was issued a few days ago, however we decided to call again since Elena still did not get it. Again, the Embassy promised that everything was sent out in the mail, but could not provide a tracking numbe... read complete review

A true disaster. Fiance left folder of document originals in hotel room. And folder of original documents did not contain the original police certificates. Consul officer spoke very poor Russian and fiance later thought that she probably spoke Russian too fast for him to understand her properly. Russian consul spent 20 minutes interviewing finance with questions that had a tone of distrusting that a real relationship exists. Our 13 year age difference was an important issue to be discussed. No questions were asked of 19 year old K-2 applicant who speaks English very well. Basically, poor preparation by both the Consul and the fiance. In the end, after a month of administrative processing, 100% of all Skype logs for all time in relationship were required for review by Consul. Good news, visa issued after this disastrous interview.

I had my interview today (Dec.01). It was scheduled at 8 am. I arrived to the Embassy at about 7:30 and there was a long line already (about 30 people). A guard took our passports in 15 minutes, checked them and gave them back. Then all the line was moving fast entering the Embassy. Immigrant visa applicants were asked to follow the guard and we went to the 2nd floor. Then an officer asked everyone for their documents (originals and delivery confirmation page).
I was asked to go to the window 24 for the interview. A consular officer (young blond girl) was very nice and friendly. She didn't ask me about the language that I prefered to use and started talking in Russian. So, I just started responding her questions. The questions were very common: Where and when we met? Have you/your husband been in the US and how many times? Does he have children? How old they are? What do you do for living? What does your husband do for living? Does he speak Russian? And that's it.
Then s... read complete review
