Review Topic: K1 Visa

We arrived at the embassy around 6:50 in the morning and there were already about 20 people waiting outside. About 30 minutes later, they started checking people in and letting them pass into the embassy to get ready for their interviews. My fiance was dreading the wait because last year when she applied for her tourist visa, she had to wait outside in the cold for like two hours. This time the man guarding the door sent us right inside where there are padded benches and heat. We waited together for about 20 minutes and then they called my fiance up for fingerprints and to pay the $240. we waited another 40 minutes until they called her up to present her birth certificate, antecedents ( they ask for all 3, penales, judiciales, and policiales). They also asked her for the sealed envelope with her medical results. They asked a couple of simple questions like how did you meet and when. It wasn't an interrogation at all. The lady was very nice and treated my fiance very well. She then told... read complete review

Interview was at 8:30am, we arrived approximately at 7:40am. I (the petitioner) attended the interview with my wife and stepson.

When we got to the embassy, we noticed there were two lines at first. One for "US citizen" services and another for visas. The visa line was broken up into two lines. First you have to present your documents to show you have an interview, and then there's another line to get into the building. However, we quickly noticed that they were asking for documents that are required for non-immigrant visas. When I got closer to the end of the first line, I showed my interview letters and they sent me to a separate, smaller line to get into the building. They wrote the numbers 21 and 22 on my wife and stepson's interview letters. So basically there was a small line for immigrant visa interviews and a larger line for non-immigrant visa interviews.

Once we got in the building, we went through a security check where we had to turn off our ce... read complete review

My Fiance arrived at the Embassy very early. Unfortunately, I could not attend with him so, he was on his own. His appointment was at 8:45 a.m., but he arrived at 7:00 a.m.! He said that there was already a line of about 50 people standing outside already. He stood in line for about 20 minutes before he went through the metal detectors and into the Embassy itself.

Since I wasn't present I can't give too detailed of a review. Only the details that he told me.

He waited awhile before being called up to a window and asked a few simple questions that any Fiance should know (i.e. what is the name of your Fiance, what is your name, when did you meet, etc...). Then he was asked to hand over the affidavit of support documentation that I provided to him, his birth certificate, passport, police records and any further evidence.

I learned today that is it very important to bring photos of the two of you together. We had a ton so, we were covered, bu... read complete review
