Peru | Review on April 1, 2014: | Are we there yet?

Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
My Fiance arrived at the Embassy very early. Unfortunately, I could not attend with him so, he was on his own. His appointment was at 8:45 a.m., but he arrived at 7:00 a.m.! He said that there was already a line of about 50 people standing outside already. He stood in line for about 20 minutes before he went through the metal detectors and into the Embassy itself.
Since I wasn't present I can't give too detailed of a review. Only the details that he told me.
He waited awhile before being called up to a window and asked a few simple questions that any Fiance should know (i.e. what is the name of your Fiance, what is your name, when did you meet, etc...). Then he was asked to hand over the affidavit of support documentation that I provided to him, his birth certificate, passport, police records and any further evidence.
I learned today that is it very important to bring photos of the two of you together. We had a ton so, we were covered, but for individuals reading this review, please bring a lot of photos of the two of you together.
He then went and paid the $ 240 USD fee for the visa and sat down again and waited about another hour or so before being called up for the interview.
The immigration officer was very nice and asked him quite a few questions, but again any Fiance should know the answers to these questions (i.e. how did you meet, how many times has he/she visited, when did you get engaged, do you speak English (if you do speak English they will probably want to do the interview in English), what language do you use to communicate with your fiance, how do you stay in contact, what do you both have in common or enjoy together, what do you do for a living, etc....
They do read through your information that you would have submitted with your Petition so, don't be surprised if they ask you questions in regards to those items that you submitted.
My Fiance said it was the best experience at the Embassy that he's ever had and he was so glad that we went through everything days before so he was prepared and had everything to hand over to them when needed.
The immigration officer then told my Fiance, you're APPROVED and to expect the visa within 3-4 weeks!!!!!
I'd also like to comment on the email communication between myself and the Embassy. They were very pleasant and responded very quickly to any email inquiries. I would highly suggest that if you need to ask them any questions to please email them and don't try to call within the one hour time frame that they do take calls.
