My appointment was at 1pm. I did not know that part of Dublin well and took a wrong turn! Parking is not easy to find when under a time constraint. I eventually parked in the Royal Dublin Society car park.
I got through security OK and the security guy was very friendly - they saw I was a bit flustered. Leave your phone in the car and expect to hand over everything except the paperwork and your wallet. They will not take electronics but will allow you to store small items - keys etc in a locker at the security gate. You will be put through a detector before being given a tag for your arm and admitted to the main building.
I picked a number and waited about an hour before being called to present my paperwork. The lady I spoke to was polite and business-like. It turned out that we had used the wrong affidavit of support form but otherwise it was fine.
I paid the fee in USD cash which I had obtained in the Post Office. I understand that they wi... read complete review

Had interview on a monday at 1pm. Whole process only took 1 hour. Was called up to pay the visa fee and hand in all the required documents. 15 minutes later was called again for the interview. They let me the petitioner stay at the window for the interview. He asked us when we met, where we met, and when we became romantically "intangled", when we got engaged, and what my fiancee planned to do for work once we returned to the states. Then he asked if we had any other proof and we showed him a photo album/scrap book and walked him through a few of the pictures until we came to one with us on a dinner date where I had bought my fiancee a lobster and the interviewing officer said well if you bought her a lobster dinner then it must be serious. we all laughed and he said he had seen enouph and will go ahead and issue the visa. The actual interview lasted only about five minutes and after months of stressing about it it was incredibly easy.

Fiance's interview went well. The guards and staff were all nice. The immigration officer was also very nice and courteous, but somewhat thorough. He asked:
- When we met
- How we met
- When we became romantically involved
- Did we become romantically involved at the beginning or end of our first trip
- Engagement date
- Why we chose to meet in such and such city
- Did he have any other current visas for any countries
- What he planned on doing for work in the States
He also went over everything in the relationship evidence packet (and there was quite a bit). He used a ruler to read the text messages line by line! The actual interview part lasted under 10 minutes.
There was another person there for the K1 interview and she had brought only a copy of her birth cert instead of the original. They told her she would need to mail them the original within two weeks.
All in all it was ... read complete review

When I first entered the embassy, I felt that the ratings for the embassy, mainly being efficient and friendly, were overrated.
When I was asked to present my appointment letter, I was also asked by the impersonal guard if this is all I have. It then turned out, as my interview was scheduled 4 days after sending packet 4, that the list was not updated at the security entry point, but after a quick phone call, all was sorted. In fact it was that fast that by the time I ended emptying my pockets and belongings into the tray for x-ray the call was done.
After getting to the consultation room I was greeted by at least 20 people waiting for all kinds of reasons. I was asked for what visa I was applying for by another guard and was promptly given a ticket. Initially my appointment was for 11:00, but at 10:45 after just entering the room I was prompted to move to an interview window. The first question that was asked by the counselor was if all the beneficiaries ... read complete review

My fiancé had his interview 3-10-14 in Dublin and it was a very laid back experience starting with the security guard. He had my fiances passport, asked his full name, then passport number. My fiancé replied, "jeeze I don't know, you have my passport, I don't have that memorized" lol. The guard laughed and replied, "aww just joking with ya", letting him in, putting his keys and phone in a locker then gave Richy the key. He took a number and left his packet containing his affidavit, evidence of on going relationship, police clearance, medical exam with the consulate staff. He then say and waited to be called back up. He waited only briefly then went to the window after his name was called and spoke with a pleasant gentleman. He was asked how we met, have we met in person and when, where do I live, do I have children, does he plan to work when he gets here (kind of a trick question, cannot legally work until you obtain your green card or work permit, which ever comes first). That was p... read complete review
