Ok, this review probably isn't going to be like the others - it's as real as it gets, emotional, comical. I hope that it helps you in any way, and since "K1" and "India" are tagged, that it helps any and future filers as well - or at least makes you laugh.
I am the US petitioner, he is the beneficiary. Our case is somewhat complicated, I have been married previously to my first husband on a K3 (spousal visa) from England, divorced, have a child from a relationship after that divorce, we have an age gap, his family does not approve - therefore I've never met them and no photos with them aside from some screenshots of videochats with his mom and sister, I find engagement rings/photos frivolous (let's spend money on a trip to Bali instead!), our personal preference is to have a marriage in a courthouse with my son present - therefore there are no invitations or receipts for a venue, etc.
Were you one of those couples who agonized about if your fiance should ... read complete review

We had our interview a while back on Sep 7th. But I am writing the review now. The interview was a little tough with a lot of questions to my fiance about me, what I do? What kind of music do I listen to? What did I like to do in my free time? When did our friendship turn into love? I also went to India for my fiance's interview. I was worried but he did approve my fiance. So, we were happy in the end.

I (the beneficiary) had my consular interview on Nov 30, it was scheduled at 7:15 am, I got there at 6:30 am along with my U.S. petitioner and were asked to stand across the road on the other side and advised that it will be announced once they are ready to take applicants in beginning with immigrant visa (including K1) applicants.
Around 7 am, one of the security guys in purple shirt started shouting something which wasn't audible to me, so I wasn't sure if he was calling immigrant visa applicants or non-immigrant visa applicants. Turned out he was calling immigrant visa applications and people had already started to form a line and I got to be in the first few in the line. If you want to be the first, rush towards the security guy shouting at his first shout if you are applying for an immigrant visa.
As you are standing in the line, you will be asked for your passport and appointment confirmation later, the U.S. petitioner, if present there will need to ... read complete review

Our appointment was at 7:30am in Mumbai US Consulate on Nov 6th, 2018. I the petitioner arrived on the 2nd of Nov to Mumbai.
HOTEL:
We stayed at the FabHotel, excellent service. Rooms were a bit small but comfortable. The VAC is walking distance. However the US consulate was about 1.5km. There are good places to eat on the left and right as you exit the hotel. Ravi Cafe was really good food, but no AC.
VAC (bio-metrics):
We had set an appointment for Sunday Nov 4th at 1:30pm, we got there around 1:00pm and were done by 1:20pm. Well organized. They do not allow electronics into the VAC, but there is a locker service next door. The petitioner is not allowed inside. Also bring two passport pictures. It is not written anywhere but bring them as they will attach them to the DS-260 form, which will be stamped and returned back to you.
EMBASSY:
Our appointment was at 7:30, we took Ola from hotel to Embassy. Just hail the serv... read complete review

Well! This is a day I waited for since a while and finally it's done!
So my experience at the consulate was just a little over average. For an interview scheduled at 7:30 am, I reached at 7am to stand in line with other immigrant Visa hopefuls who had the same slot as mine. I went through a hassle-free security check and then made my way to the waiting area where everything happens (from token to interview to chaos if any)
I received my token at about 8:00 am amidst some preferences. So people who had selected Punjabi as a language of preference were asked to sit down so their documents could be checked while the rest of us were asked to stand in a line for our document verification. This was something that didn't go down well with me since I believe we all are one and should be treated fairly irrespective of race, religion or otherwise.
Anyways having said that, I was soon to realize that I had made a gross mistake by chosing English as a preferre... read complete review
