I (the beneficiary) had my consular interview on Nov 30, it was scheduled at 7:15 am, I got there at 6:30 am along with my U.S. petitioner and were asked to stand across the road on the other side and advised that it will be announced once they are ready to take applicants in beginning with immigrant visa (including K1) applicants.
Around 7 am, one of the security guys in purple shirt started shouting something which wasn't audible to me, so I wasn't sure if he was calling immigrant visa applicants or non-immigrant visa applicants. Turned out he was calling immigrant visa applications and people had already started to form a line and I got to be in the first few in the line. If you want to be the first, rush towards the security guy shouting at his first shout if you are applying for an immigrant visa.
As you are standing in the line, you will be asked for your passport and appointment confirmation later, the U.S. petitioner, if present there will need to present the U.S. passport. After checking, they let you in where you go through a security check, please make sure to get with you only the things that are allowed in the embassy, otherwise, you'll end up wasting time trying to find a place outside the embassy to keep it safe. Note - Fitbits and Smartwatches are not allowed inside, jewellery, belt and regular watches are allowed inside, not sure about wallet so you can carry cash in pocket.
After the security check, they direct you to the interview area where there are around 15 windows. They make you stand in a line and ask you to put all the documents required at the window in order, Passport, Ds-160 Stamped Confirmation Page, Birth Certificate of Beneficiary, A Copy of birth certificate, Appointment confirmation letter.
Once you are standing in the line with these documents arranged, you will be waiting to be sent to one of the windows as they start opening at around 730am, the first time at the window, they will check the documents mentioned above, and then ask for I-134 form along with all the supporting documents you have got, so I gave them all, but she kept only I-134 signed form, IRS transcripts, Pay Stubs and W-2s and returned additional documents we had taken like Bank Letter, Employment Letter, Bank Statements. She then processed all the documents, asked for my old passport because it had my US Tourist Visa, so make sure to carry that if you have a visa in the old passport, and then she assigned us a token number. She also asked if this is the first time we are getting married (probably to check if she needs to ask for a divorce certificate)
After that we were just waiting for our token number to be called, which took shorter than expected, about 30 mins max, probably because we were the first few in the line. The interview lasted around 10 mins. My petitioner had come to the window with me once our token number was called, and then was asked if she is the petitioner and then asked to sit. I was then being asked the following questions, not in this order:
1) Who is calling you?
2) How did you guys meet?
3) When did you meet her?
4) When did you meet her family and when did she meet your family?
5) What are your wedding plans?
6) Tell me about your favourite restaurant in New York (my fiancee is from NY)
He then asked me to call my fiance and told us together that we are approved, and will receive a text and email once the visa is ready and then we leave the consulate, and gave us the approved white slip. We were really happy!
