My husband just had his interview on Nov. 4th, 2011 and the experience was pretty good overall. He chose to go to the VFS office at 6:30AM that morning and put his belongings in the locker provided. He was bussed over to the consulate and arrived around 7:30AM. He went through security and was fingerprinted. The consulate was VERY crowded, but he was one of the first to arrive and easily got a seat. After waiting a few minutes, his name was called and he went to the window and was asked by an Indian lady, "Who is calling you to U.S.?" and "What does she do?" The lady then gave him back all of the originals that had been submitted to NVC and told him to wait until his name was called for the interview.
He waited about 1.5 hours and just as he was going into the bathroom his name was called. He skipped the bathroom and ran over to the window. He was interviewed by an American lady and an Indian lady. These are the questions they asked:
1) Who... read complete review

After doing extensive research I will say few of things:
1. Have solid documentary evidence (proof)to your every arguments or answers.
2. One of the key questiosn asked is why you are getting married in India?
besides factual questions about petitioner.
3. Every case is different - anything outside the norm of your custom will be looked at by magnifying glass (say the girl is older than the boy!).
4 Prepare like a job interview.
Good Luck!

Approved!! The process is smooth if you have all required documentation. here is how it goes:
My interview was at 8:30 AM. There were about 5-6 other people for the same timeslot. I was the only non-chinese btw
1. They call you to the counter initially and take your documents like passport etc.
2. The mounted TV on the wall will show you a video of how to do fingerprinting.
3. You are called to one of the windows again. this time for fingerprinting.
4. Now you wait.......
5. You are called again to the counter and a chinese lady does a pre-interview before it goes to the consular officer. She asked me the following qustions:
- who filed this petition for you ?
- What is your name, your wife name
- How did you meet ? Where does she live right now ?
- i stayed in US before. She asked me lot of questions about my previous sta such as what i did, where i stayed etc.
6. Now you... read complete review

The interview was at 1 PM on Tuesday 10/25/2011 and they allowed my wife inside around 12 noon. I alos went to Chennai but I was not allowed inside.
After the security check, she was allowed inside the main building. After 15 minutes a male officer checked all the documents and asked for additional documents, stating that those additional documents will make her case very strong, if provided. We were ready and she submitted i) my 2010 W-2 and ii) my Dad's I-864 packet.
Then her figure prints were taken and around 12:50 PM, a female CO took her interview. She asked some general questions like - who arranged our marraige, what was my job, when did i go to US, how many guests were present at marraige and then asked for the marraige album and barely looked 2 or 3 photos and then said "Your visa will be couriered in 7 business days".She was out by 1:10PM.
Then the next day was a hiliday at Chennai and so we were hoping to collect the visa paper... read complete review

Hi All,
I am writing as much details as I can about my wife's CR1 visa experience today in Chennai, india. Even though her interview is scheduled at 1PM today they allowed her inside the consulate at 12PM. Security guards checked her interview letter and the folders that she was carrying. Please do not carry any electronic items such as cell phones, flash drives e.t.c but you are allowed to carry PEN,PENCIL and you can also wear watch. They also stamped on every folder as part of security regulations. Once she went inside, she waited for almost 45 minutes. One male Indian officer asked my wife's medical report. He also asked my Year 2010 W2, however my wife doesn't have that and she said she only has Year 2010 tax returns and tax transcript and he accepted it. After this they asked my wife to be seated and wait for the next call.
After 1 hour, she was called again and consular officer took finger prints of her and have her sign DS 230 PART II. At the same ... read complete review
