Happy New Year. This board has helped wife and myself obtain useful information up until yesterday, her interview safe: therefore I would like to give our story in hopes of making other people's visa journey smoother in the future.
Quick summary. Through attorney filed I-130 and I-601 from USA. Both approved. I submitted to psychological evaluation to demonstrate extreme hardship from lengthy separation.Time lapsed between approval and visa application due to difficulties receiving Antecedentes penales y policiacos through my wife's relatives in guatemala. Embassy interview scheduled in Guatemala City and approved for visa.

MEDICAL:
* They are now asking for 5 cedula sized photos; not passport sized.
* Take lots of Quetzales for payment (Fiancée paid close to Q2,000 total including immunizations) as they won't take dollars unless you got the exact amount and in $100 bills.
* It takes 2 days to complete because the X-Rays are done elsewhere so they will make you come back the next day for the immunizations.
* The second trip to the doctor's office will take all day so be prepared.
* Ask for copy of immunization form which is needed for AOS later on.
This is CRITICAL for success:
* Wait for embassy to contact the beneficiary (Packet 3) before scheduling the interview appointment (otherwise they will cancel your appointment anyways)
* Make sure the beneficiary knows their way around all forms & paperwork (CO could not find the I-134 form in our package and stressed out my fiancée asking for it in English even though t... read complete review

Our interview was at 7:15. We arrived to the Embassy at 6:00 and there was already a line with at least 5 to 6 people there. At 7 some people at the gate started to check the P4 letters and the medical exam envelopes. They gave us a number and told us to get in. (Make sure you are not carrying cellphones, cameras or any electronic device). We were told to wait for our number to be called to present all the documents to a window, which we did. After this we were instructed to sit down and wait for my name to be called. Almost an hour later we were called. CO asked us in which language we preferred the interview and my husband said English. Interview went fine. She asked me questions like, how we met, how many kids I had and their ages, date of my divorce, if I had ever lived or been in the States, etc. Then she asked questions to my husband about his previous marriage. We Had our interview in October of this year and nothing here at Visa Journey could have prepared us for this experience. The process in Guatemala is very degrading. I want to share my experience because not all experience or interviewers are nice or even friendly. Perhaps is the fact that my wife entered without inspection that changes the entire interview but it should not violate the basic human and privacy rights followed by this country
In my opinion it violates many basic human and privacy acts established in the USA. The interview is not private. The Banking Window style and the proximity of the crowd awaiting their turn with the people actively been interviewed is just a Horror Show.
You cannot hear the names been called clearly, so you have to acquire super powers to make sure that you don't miss your name been called. The background noise of the room combined with a substandard loud speaker system is a recipe for disaster.
