I finally had my Visa interview yesterday, February 2, 2007. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised and because of my positive experience, I would like to share it with others - perhaps it will ease your mind and give you some hope!
I stayed at the Friedberger Warte hotel ... it is right behind the consulate. I left there at about 6:20 and made it there at bout 6:30 am. When I got there, I was the only one already waiting out there. No one else started arriving until about 6:50am. I wasn't sure where exactly I needed to stand in line but the security officer told me I needed to go right to the window on the side of the consulate's entrance (to the left). So I went and stood there.
At about 7:25, a security officer gave a short briefing about what can be taken in the building and what not. He also explained the procedure of entering the building. Once he was finished, the little window openend where you get your ticket. Let me forewarn you, if you go to... read complete review

Granted, we have a rather unusual situation in the fact that we currently live together in China and were processed through the Guangzhou consulate, even though my fiancee is German.
In general, they processed our case quickly. Much faster than for a Chinese person. So, we have no complaints about waiting periods. There were no major mishaps by the consulate, and we ultimately got the visa.
The only complaints that we have revolve around the consulate being disorganized.
1.) The people from the consulate that we had contact with spoke very broken english (aside from the visa officer), and they didn't fully understand our responses. I know this is China, but we were dealing with employees of the US consulate, right? When we went for the interview, the guard manning the door couldn't read english and he had trouble figuring out what country my fiancee is from.
2.) About a week before our interview, we received a call from someone at t... read complete review

Hi there,my interview was a while back, but I think it'll still help some K1 visa applicants what I am writing here.
I got my interview date actually sooner than I was supposed to...I kept on bugging them, dropped off my packeage 4,I believe, personally at the consulate, wrote them a letter requesting an interview as soon as possible....so, after they received my package 4, I had an interview within 4 days.
So, I got there with pictures, supporting documents and all the other things I thought I might need.
I got called up to the window after quite a long wait, a nice officer asked me who I am, why I am there...how my fiance and I met, what my plans are for the future..I wanted to show him pictures and he didn't even want to see them!!!hehe ..well, he said that i will receive my visa within a week.
After about 4 days my visa arrived.
The guy was very nice and there werent any problems at all. ... read complete review

Interview on Nov. 1st at 7.30am.
After going through security, I was directed to the cashier's window to pay the visa application fee, and quickly after that to window 23 where the officer took my DS- 230 part 2.
After maybe 30 minutes I was called to another window where an officer went through all my paperwork with me and collected what I still had to submit: police certificate, birth certificate and affidavid of support.
It was all in order and nothing was missing, so after a few minutes she said: Very good, take a seat until your number is called for the interview.
After a wait of maybe 1 hour my number was called. I went to the window, the officer gave me my DS-230 (both parts) to read through it and see that everything was correct, he then swore me in and I signed the DS- 230.
After that, he asked me when and how I had met my husband, why he had been in Germany at that time and if we had ever lived with one another befo... read complete review
