All went well at the visa interview. Everyone was really friendly and nice - really everyone, no matter if consul, other people at the counter or security staff.
I arrived there early at 7:30am (appointment at 8am) and left the embassy shortly after nine. It went way faster than I had expected.
All documents were there, I got my originals back, the visa iterview itself was really okay - questions about our relationship, his family, our plans for the future - nothing one has to be afraid of.

I had my interview on June 16th at 9:30am. Took a train to Frankfurt and then subway U5 to Giesser Strasse (runs every 5 minutes and takes 16 minutes from Hauptbahnhof), from there it's just a 2 minute walk. I had my cellphone with me and left it at a little shop next to the subway station, when I picked it up again later I threw some money into their Kaffeekasse. I also saw people hiding something that might have been a phone in the shrubs, and on the way back I saw that the kiosk next to the subway stop offers safekeeping. So if you need your phone later that day, you can bring it with you and just leave it there.
I got there at about 9:10am, there was a huge queue for non-immigrant visas, but I was told to jump the queue and go straight ahead. I could bring my water bottle through the security check, I was just asked to take a sip in front of them.
It was fairly busy (it's a huge place!), but I didn't have to wait that long. They didn't ask for any proof of our relatio... read complete review

Went to embassy in Frankfurt today. My wife and I stayed at the best western located right behind the embassy. We timed it the night before and found it takes about 10 minutes to walk from hotel to the front entrance of the embassy.
We showed up at around 6:50am, appointment was at 7:30am. The processing line to get into security didn't open until 7am, so we stood around and around 7:15 got in line for security. No big issue at security, except we brought the medical disk from the health exam and had to check it there.
Got inside the embassy and waited. The first station didn't open until 7:30am and we were 2nd in line so had to wait about 15 minutes. First station verified that you arrived, took your passport and did a quick scrub of your packet.
We were then told to go to the next window over and pay the fee. Ok, there goes $404 dollars. The guy at the counter told us to sit down and wait for our number to be called.

Very very easy going.
Everybody is very nice and competent! All I had to submit was a birth certificate, police record, divorce paper and my fiance's tax payment sheet as evidence of support.
The officer was very nice and asked me where I met my fiance. I said in Japan. He ask if he is still working, I said yes. He said have fun in D.C.
4 days later the visa was in my mail.

I went to the medical exam first and then to the interview. I went to 3 different windows to submit my paper work, pay and answer some questions. Lastly, the interview which went great. Not even 5 minutes and I was done. I was in and out of the consulate within about 1 hour. Frankfurt is very professional, and they work hand in hand to make it easy as possible. It was great!
