I don't have a complete account, but here is a summary. My fiancé arrived early. He left everything at the Frankfurt train station but his paperwork. The consular officer asked a few of the basic questions already written up here for Frankfurt. Then the visa was approved, and the officer said "I'm proud that you will be a U.S. citizen one day".

My fiancé was dumbfounded, as the two interviewees before him were denied. As he is Syrian, I surely thought that we would be asked for additional paperwork or his application would go to administrative processing. His visa arrived today, three days later. So this part of the process went so much more smoothly than I anticipated. Good luck to all others!

The process was very easy for my fiance, they asked him one question : tell us how you met. He explained for about 5 minutes and that was it. He said everyone was very kind and respectful, no problems at all! He took in an entire folder of extra information, photos, etc but they didn't ask for it and he didn't need it, maybe because we provided quite a bit of this during the application process.

I had to go to Frankfurt for my visa interview. The subway was running late so I had to phone the Embassy to tell them that I was going to be late, and they were very nice about it.

No electronics where allowed, so once you get off the Ubahn(Subway) there is a kiosk called "Consulate Kiosk". There you can leave your electronics and stuff not allowed into the embassy for 3€. They give you a number and just collect it after the interview hassle free.

Once outside the embassy, I was told to get into the Immigrant visa line which was extremely short. I got called up, and they checked my last name to make sure I had an appointment and I got a paper with a number on it.

After that I went through security. Very strict. Airport like security. I then had to make my way to another building.

Once in the building I was sent straight to the Cashiers to pay the immigrant visa fee of around 300€. You can pay in cash or credit card only... read complete review
