Hi all! Happy to report that my fiance and I were approved for our K1 Visa at the US Embassy in Havana. My experience was very similar to the below two reviews, but I will do a general overview. I highly suggest anyone applying read related reviews and forums on the K1 process in Cuba on Visa Journey. It is unique in many ways and myself and others have benefited from the wealth of information that is available in these forums.
1. Prepare. I cannot stress this enough. I came with four packets in clear folders, included cover letters and paper dividers in each, as well as small post it notes on each document identifying its purpose. Packet one included all of our personal information and interview documents - passports, appointment confirmation, ds 160 confirmation, visa fee payment confirmation, NVC letter with case number, NOA2, NOA1, fiance's birth certificate, single certificate, antecedentes penales, carnet de identidad, medical exam and receipt, updated statement of... read complete review

Hi everyone,
The comments that others have already posted about the K-1 visa interview in Cuba are accurate, so I won't repeat them. But I do want to highlight a few important things that can help save you time and give you peace of mind:
1. When you arrive at the park, ask an embassy worker - typically a woman dressed in a peach or yellow dress - where you should go if you have an appointment for a K-1 visa (visa definitivo). My fiance and I had our appointment scheduled for 10:30, but per everyone's suggestion on the forum, we arrived at the park before 7:00AM and waited for our names to be called. At 10:00am when my fiance's name wasn't called, we panicked and let one of the workers know. That's when she consulted a different list of names - for "visas definitivos" - and found his name. She then told us that the group they were calling was for temporary visas (visits to the US). Since we were there for a "visa definitivo", we could head directly to ... read complete review

Hello,
My biggest recommendation for a visa interview at the US Embassy in Havana is to GET THERE EARLY and PREPARE your paperwork. We arrived at 6:15 am, began being processed by 6:45 am and were out of the embassy by 8:45 am. My appointment said 10:30am on the appointment confirmation online, but we were done and out way before then. They have a LOT of people to process, so the more you are prepared, have cover letters for everything, have your papers organized in order and in sections, the easier you are to work with, the fewer questions they will have and the quicker you will be let out, that's my impression. The workers at the embassy are super efficient and stick to their strict process of how to ensure everyone gets the service required, so the fewer questions you ask them and the more you just do what they say, the happier they are and the quicker everyone gets processed. I'm not kidding. There were people who would try to cut the line or try to ask their special q... read complete review

Overall, our experience was a decent one and ended in an approval, so I can't say anything bad about the experience related to those things. The interview process was intimidating, but for us very easy. We answered maybe 10 basic questions about our wedding plans, about our families, and about our employment/duties in life. The weirdest/offensive questions we got were just about if I (USC) spoke spanish, and how he felt about his family not being able to attend the wedding. In the grand scheme of things, those questions are actually very "normal," and not suspicious or malicious in nature. We ended the interview with a 221G, because we forgot to bring an updated copy of his birth certificate for international use, so make sure when you go to the interview that you take an updated copy certified for international use. Ending with the 221G, the CO just told us to come back whenever we wished with his passport, and birth certificate and provided all of that information was adequate, they'... read complete review
