My wife had her interview Monday december 29. She spent about two and half hours there and about 10 minutes for the actually interview. They wanted a copy of my 2013 tax return and a corrected i864. They asked my wife about my job, her job, where we met, wedding photos, family photos and she was done. My wife said everyone she talked to was very friendly and everything went quickly.

Review Topic: General Review

My spouse and I went to the consulate about 15 minutes before the interview, and the line was very long. From my observation, there was only another spouse waiting outside.

From what my wife told me, the person collecting her documents was very rude to her. Since that person doesn't know english and has no clue what American documents look like, so that person give her a hard time.

The interviewing officer was very nice/professional, he interviewed her for about 10 minutes after he learned that she can speak english. Here are the questions he asked:

1.) Tell me about your husband
2.) Are you a member of the CCP
3.) You were denied entry, please tell me the reason you were denied
4.) You applied for a visitor visa after immigration petition was submitted, please tell me why you did that
5.) Have you stayed at any other countries for more than 6 months after you turned 16
6.) May I see the document the CBP o... read complete review

We also wanted to go to Hong Kong, but decided not to go due to the protests.

Signing up on the ustraveldocs website for the interview was easy. We just had to wait for the date and time we wanted to have the interview on become available for booking. Usually there were two choices for times slots each day (8:15 and 9:20am). We chose the 8:15 time slot.

Guangzhou was easy to get around by subway. If your fiancee has the Baidu map app, it's also easy to navigate by bus. The consulate is located at the B1 exit of the Zhujiang New Town metro station on Line 3. We stayed at the Jianguo Hotel near the East Railway metro station which took about 20 minutes to ge... read complete review
