As mentioned in the other reviews, you should reach the embassy 5 minutes before the appointment time.
Once we entered the visa section (after our security check, etc), we were first called for a pre-interview (administrative) where the woman asked basic questions regarding the application, our address in the US (we gave a friend's since my husband and I both live in Chile). She seemed professional, however, what made me a little nervous was that she didn't smile at all and just went through the NVC file that was at the desk. Since, we expedited our request, she asked me to submit the i-864 form and my husband's income tax returns and checked that his income was above the poverty level. She said everything seemed to be in order and explained the process for following up on my passport with the visa.

After this we were called to another window where the consular officer interviewed us. Something went wrong with the systems but he started asking questions about how ... read complete review

I attended the interview with my husband (the beneficiary) and everything went smoothly. We arrived at 1:30pm for our 2:00pm appointment and were told by the guard to come back five minutes before our appointment time. When we returned there were a few other people waiting outside, two couples and one guy on his own.

We passed through security and left our cell phones and other electronics with the guards. We presented our passports and a lady checked my husband's name on a list. Then we walked through the courtyard to the immigration building, where we had to take a number at a counter. We were third in line behind the two other couples.

We were called up according to our number. There were two admin staff checking paperwork and one man doing the interviews. We were first called up to speak to one of the admin staff at the window. She asked for my husband's passport and his sealed medical evaluation envelope. She had our case file from NVC on the desk an... read complete review

Everything was really great. I was a little nervous, but everyone was very nice. there were just 2 additional families there. The whole process took between 1.30-2 hours.
They take you to the first window and the lady asks you some questions and fills information in the computer, and then you wait for another 30 minutes and the consular officer calls you to take your fingerprints and then you are good to go!

The staff was very nice and the consular officer is really nice and friendly.

Great consulate

My fiancé had a great experience here at the embassy in Santiago, Chile. They called him up to the window when they let him in and asked for the paperwork. He handed the paperwork that the girl asked for over to her, he actually gave her pretty much all of the paperwork that we had worked on including the I129F copy and everything even though she said it was not necessary because they already had a copy. She asked him a few questions and then asked him to sit down and he waited for about 10 - 15 minutes and they called him up for the question part of the interview. The officer asked him two questions and then let him know that he was going to approve his visa.

He said that he had a great experience at the embassy, everyone was very nice, polite, and timely.

My fiancée had a very positive experience here. We had prepared a binder full of evidence and none of it was necessary. They went over her paperwork and asked a few simple questions and everyone there was kind. There were only two other people in line other than her so the process was quick. The only problem was that the fingerprints weren't working so they asked her if she can come back in a few days to complete that. She asked them if that meant she was approved and they said YES! We are a same-sex couple and ran into no issues regarding that. Also, my fiancée spoke English in her interview and I think that helped her because she said that the officer looked happy to be speaking English and they we're joking a bit about American stuff :D Overall, great experience & great embassy!
