I attended the interview with my husband (the beneficiary) and everything went smoothly. We arrived at 1:30pm for our 2:00pm appointment and were told by the guard to come back five minutes before our appointment time. When we returned there were a few other people waiting outside, two couples and one guy on his own.

We passed through security and left our cell phones and other electronics with the guards. We presented our passports and a lady checked my husband's name on a list. Then we walked through the courtyard to the immigration building, where we had to take a number at a counter. We were third in line behind the two other couples.

We were called up according to our number. There were two admin staff checking paperwork and one man doing the interviews. We were first called up to speak to one of the admin staff at the window. She asked for my husband's passport and his sealed medical evaluation envelope. She had our case file from NVC on the desk and shuffled through the paperwork and asked us questions. It was quite basic, like how/when did we meet, when did we get married, what our plans are in the US, etc. Every time we answered a question she would type the answers in the computer. I had prepared every document we originally submitted in a big folder, including checklists, but she didn't ask us for a single thing. Then she told us to take a seat and that our name would be called for the interview shortly.

We were called up to another window with the interviewer. He was obviously a gringo but spoke Spanish. He asked variations of the same questions that we were asked by the admin lady, plus some more questions about my dad, our joint sponsor (What is his name? Where does he work?). Then he pulled out a big ziplock bag with all the photos we submitted to USCIS with the i-130, and I thought he would make us go through them, but instead he returned them to us. Then he started making some jokes with my husband and saying he could see his grades from high school in the computer system. He explained the process for the DHL pickup for the passport and POE envelope, and that was it! We were approved!
