I requested my interview date for the day after the medical. If you have children (K2's) and they are younger like mine is, then I'd recommend giving yourself the breathing room because otherwise its a lot of hassle back and forth between the medical and the interview if they are on the same day. Not to mention the consulate is busy on the Wednesday, and quieter on the Thursday!
We arrived on Thursday September 02, 2010 at 12:45pm. There was nobody outside the entrance except the security guards who were chatting with each other. They let us in early, combed through my file folders, took our medical envelopes and ushered us through a metal detector. The less you bring with you, the better. We were escorted up a flight of stairs to a lobby where our medical envelopes were xrayed, then onto an elevator and up to the 20th floor. We arrived in Mtl the day before our interview, did a trial run from our hotel (Place D'Armes) to the consulate to see how long it'd take...15 min walk, not bad. Spent the day exploring old Mtl, trying to relax.
Double checked everything, several times! I decided to organise all documents by category in folders for ease of reference at the interview, they were:
- Folder 1: interview letter, passports (mine and his) and copies, birth certificates (mine and his) and copies, police certificates and copies, two passport photos, medical and xray
- Folder 2: copies of 129F, NOA1, NOA2, NOA3, Packet 2
- Folder 3: Affidavit of support, evidence of support (employment letter, pay stubs, bank statement, 3 years of taxes), proof of domicile (utility bill), intent to marry
- Folder 4: proof of ongoing relationship (boarding passes, wedding invitations, hotel receipts, phone bills, photos)

Got outside REALLY early, just after 6:15am, and there was no one else, so we decided to grab a quick breakfast at a cafe right on the corner. Got back at 6:45am, and there were already 2 people in line. Doors opened promptly at 7:30am, went through security and was handed the letter C.
Went upstairs, waited for about 20 min to be called to window 14 and was helped by a very friendly lady who asked for my Police Check, Medical results, 2 passport photos, and all the other stuff. She instructed us to go to the cashier window, pay $350 US in cash, and then sit back down and wait to be called again.
After about 30 min or so, we were called back to the window, where my receipt was taken, and I was fingerprinted. My information was double-checked, and then we were instructed to go sit down and wait until we were called into the interview booth. We waited a good 3 hours, and it wasn't until 1:30 when I heard my name called.

Got to the consulate at about 5-10 minutes before 7. I was first there but only just.. less than a minute later another guy wandered up. He kind of snuck ahead of me in line while I was saying goodbye to my mom, but I think he was just trying to get out of the wind, it was a bit chilly. A bunch more people showed up pretty quickly. The security guards opened the doors at about 7:30 or shortly after, the guy waved me up back in front of him thankfully. So the guard asked me what I was there for, I said \"a visa interview\" then he asked to see my application and I was like \"er what? which part of it? you mean the appointment letter?\" he said yes, the letter, so I gave it to him plus my passport. Got through security fine, got my \"brown card\" and my A, went and sat down in the waiting area.
