Let me start by thanking everyone who had posted their reviews and suggestions for others to follow. Thank you visa journey for helping us through this long journey.
Here is my review:
Flew from Vancouver to Montreal the day before and went to find exactly where the consulate was. We stayed at Days Inn, which is about 5 blocks away from the consulate.
We arrived at the consulate at 6.30 am and were first in line. A girl for K1 came along with her mother. But about at 7 people started to come in and the line got longer and longer. At 7.30 the guards opened the door and asked for confirmation letter and passport for everyone. After going through the security (like at airport) we went down the stairs and sat in the chairs left of the elevator. We were in the room for about 25 minutes after which a guard came by and took us all up who were applying for the immigrant visas.
Once up in the main room on 19th floor, we formed... read complete review

The interview piece was a “breeze” thanks to the advice of VJ members!
Let me start by saying our interview was on the Monday following what was supposed to be a Category 2 hurricane on Sunday in NYC. So I left a day earlier and met Toby in Montreal on Saturday. We stayed at the Hyatt, which was a couple blocks from the Embassy. On Monday, we arrived at the Embassy around 6:30am (just because I’m crazy like that! lol), after grabbing a cup of coffee around the corner .. and were the very first in line! People started to arrive around 7, and the line just got longer and longer. At 7:30 exactly, they opened the doors and we went in. As the sponsor, they also let me in with no problem. Toby’s name was not on the list for scheduled interviews that day (a VERY scary moment but I heard this happens regularly so I stayed calm) but they let us through anyways. We went downstairs and sat right next to the elevators .. (spent some time chatting... read complete review

I had my interview in Vancouver this past wednesday aug 24th and it went really well!
I was more nervous than some folks would be because not only do I have a previous visa denial, but a border denial as well, and I was kind of traumatized from the border experience and was seriously afraid of how they would treat me at the consulate and what they would ask me about that day.
I went in, through security, and said good morning to every single person working and made sure I was very polite and they were as well. A guard took my upstairs and they sent me to a window right away where a man asked for all my forms (as listed on the consulate page) and he put them together. Also, I thought I should mention that I included a statement about my border denial (not enough ties to Canada) and although they did not ask for it, they did accept it, which I thought was great and could possibly save me from explaining it all the time when it came to AOS or whatever....So, he had all my f... read complete review

I went for my interview Aug 25th. I arrived at the doors just after 630am, there was a gentlmen there ahead of me... he is on VJ too. (I just read his review and I am sorry I didn't get your name LOL) It helped to have someone to talk to to pass the time. Other people started showing up, got to know a few others, it seemed I was the only one doing the K1 there that day! The experience was intresting and I agree with everyone it is easy but it is very hard to hear when they annouce anything or some of the people behind the windows are hard to hear too. So sit right in front of the two small screens that show the numbers (C1 or 2 etc..) and what number window to go too. It is right in front of the chldren's play area and by the elevator.
So when I was called to the 1st window, the guy I had, I couldn't hear him, so I had to keep asking him to repeat himself (so I think that set him off) For he wasn't a very nice man to me.I had messed up and registered wrong (my birth mont... read complete review

Just wanted to say my experience was very good, and I was in and out quickly.
Got there at 630am and was the first one in line. Around 645, more people showed up. By 730, there was a huge line up. There was one woman that I was chatting with and she was a fellow VJ\'er too. (I didn\'t get her name but if she\'s reading this, I hope it all worked out for you!)Doors opened around 730, line up to the left of the doors. Once in, went through the security check and made my way downstairs. Sat next to the elevator, and around 8am, the security guard only allowed permanent visa applicants up first. I was first and received C1. Now, the numbers don\'t really mean anything because C3 and C6 were called to the windows first, then C1 and C2. Now, while you wait, there were more people arriving via elevator and that waiting room got really packed in 20 minutes. My biggest beef is the noise level...every one is chatting PLUS there is a kiddie play area which was noisy...it made it ve... read complete review
