The forms the easiest part of everything for me..in the day of the interview I was so ready..had everything prepared...Was worried about the pre-interview because of the correction of the forms, but everything went very well. I was ready for the talk with the consul and get approved, because everybody told me it was "banana cake", well not for me..It was terrible the consul was rude and very "new at work" he didnt know the interview process, asked me all kinds of questions, saw all the 500 pg I had for the proof of ongoing relationship and in the end told me it wasn't enough and required the presence of my fiance in another interview.

My fiancé and I arrived at the consulate at 6am and went to the immigrant visa line, by 7:15am a guy came and gave us a form with a number, we went in ( no cell phones or any electronic devices allowed), went to the second flor and a guy gave us another form to write our contact info (where we live in Brazil and where we're staying in Rio), then he checked everyone's documents individually and we waited to the pre-interview, where they check our documents again and make a couple of questions if needed, just to see if we filled out everything correctly on the forms. We get fingerprinted and go downstairs to pay for our passport to be mailed (I paid R$65). Then we went back upstairs and waited about 20-30 minutes and were called to the actual interview with the consular officer. It was pretty easy. She was very friendly. She asked how we met, when we met, I answered YES to two of those last questions on DS 156 form and she asked me about it ( I- beneficiary- was arrested trying to get i... read complete review

Our interview was scheduled for 7:15am on March 9, 2012, and we arrived at the consulate around 7am. I would advise arriving earlier than this as the line outside the consulate was already very long when we arrived.
When you are approaching the line there are some consulate workers who will come around and ask you if you have any electronic devices with you, which are not allowed. So don't take your cell phone or tablet, you can't get in the consulate with them.
Then while you are waiting in line, some other workers will come around, look to see if you have your passport and passport photos with you, and give you another form to fill out. Not sure what is on that form as my wife filled it out and I was way past tired of forms at this point. But I think it was just address and contact info.
Once you make it in the door, you have to go through a security check and then you basically have no idea where you are going, although there are some si... read complete review
