My experience at the Consulate in Rio de Janeiro was really good! Things worked out much better than I expected it to be. I'm impressed!
The consulate is well located in downtown Rio. I got there at 6:05 am and there were 3 people on the k1/cr1 line already. At around 7 am a young guy gave us a little form, and led us inside to the second floor of the building where there was a waiting room. He passed around another form to fill up. As I was the first one to finish up, I went to the guy's desk and he put my paperwork in order, and told me to wait until I was called to a booth. There, a nice brazilian lady checked all my forms and documents, and gave me a receipt for me to pay the visa fee. After a few minutes, I was called to room number 3 where the inverview took place. There, this very pretty and nice lady said good morning in portuguese and just asked me 4 very simple questions in portuguese and said that she was going to approve my visa and good luck in the USA! I was so happy that my hands were shaking when i got out! She didn't request any proof, although I brought 400 pictures with me and a folder full of other proofs like passport stamps, plane tikets, phone calls, texts and email records, and so much more.
Everyone was nice and helpful. Even the security gard at the door! Everybody in a good mood and smiling. I left the consulate, payed the passport shipping fee at the post office next door and got back to the hotel at 9:15! So it was really fast! And do you wanna know what was even faster? My passport arrived at my house 2 days later! Im so happy that words can't explain!
Good luck to you all!
