I was very nervous about attending my interview; even though I was entirely organised in terms of paperwork the magnitude of what this interview meant for my future was enough to make me feel physically sick. I needn’t have worried though. I arrived the recommended 15 minutes prior to my interview. My name wasn’t on the scheduled list (a big blank line where mine was meant to be) so the lady examined my email confirmation and with a few phone calls was able to get me organised. I went through security and my bag was checked (you get a number so you can collect your belongings later). Despite the number of staff working security everyone was friendly and it wasn’t intimidating. Next a woman went through my paperwork, sorting out only what was necessary into a folder for me. I sat down for all of two minutes before I was escorted to the elevator and sent to level 59. There you check in once more and take a ticket. It feels like you’re waiting forever to be called but it was maybe... read complete review

So, we arrived an hour early and just sat around in the main lobby on ground floor when we decided to go up about thirty minutes before the interview. We went through security on Floor 10 (have your cell phone off), and then up to floor 59 in about three seconds. We walked in an took a number. We were called to the first part where a pretty grumpy lady sat and wasn't helpful at all (I had emailed a couple times and was told that my questions would get answered at the consulate). I asked her in the simplest way possible and this woman only seemed to want to give me attitude, because she couldn't understand what I was saying. She FINALLY helped me out, and pretty much made me feel stupid, because the US government doesn't know how to be helpful in such a horrible process (really the K-1 I absolutely ridiculous).

After about an hour of waiting we were then called to another window where a very cheerful lady asked my partner a few simple questions, and voila! The vis... read complete review

Appointment was at 8 am , lifts do not open until 7.30 am. Toilets are on level 7 if you are really nervous like I was lol.

Get off at level 10, if the door to the embassy is closed, then take a seat and wait, they call out when its open.

Go through security, then at the next desk you can check in your bag, then they will have you line up. When called go to the counter where they sort out your paperwork. Once done, take a seat and wait for the security guard to call you up to get in the lift.

Once you get to the embassy floor you have to report to security again, they then buzz you into the room of doom (interview area). You have to show your passport at all security checks so keep it handy.

Once inside the processing/interview room, take a ticket from the machine for visas and sit down in the middle .

They call you up pretty quickly and sort through your paperwork, they ask questions about the paperwork if... read complete review
