Writing this a few months after the fact.
Spent about a year and a half on the documents etc and submitted, then had our interview. All was fine, we flew up to Sydney and we were told during the interview that the only thing we had to do was bring an original copy of one of the documents which we had forgotten and to file a tax return. Did this when we got back, however the tax return we had to wait.
Fast forward to submitting all the documents, we were emailed and told that one of our other forms had expired whilst we were waiting for the tax return, so we had to submit again. Not a problem, we went and re-did it and mailed it through. Then we were emailed again 2 weeks later and told to submit another document as that had also expired earlier in the year. Not sure why it wasn't flagged when the previous email was sent but fine, resubmitted again. Another 2 weeks and we are told our medical had also expired earlier in the year and told to resubmit. Medic... read complete review

I went to the Sydney consulate in 2015, however I never read many reviews about people going in for processing of a Diversity Visa or DV so thought I would share my experience here anyway. I was very nervous about the whole process because there is not much information surrounding the interview for people going in for a diversity interview (green card lottery). I had read several opinions on this site regarding how much money I should have saved and read nothing about the types of questions they would ask me. The reason for my nerves had everything to do with the fact I didn't have $10K USD saved (the amount that had been thrown about) and I also had no solid plan of what I wanted to do when I got to the states. Only that I would go and figure it out from there.
The security is tight as expected and explained in other reviews. Once I was up and waiting to be processed, they called my number and I had to pay my processing fee. I sat back down again waiting to be called fo... read complete review

A very straight-forward experience.
My wife and I showed up about 45 minutes before my scheduled appointment time and went up to level 10 of the MLC centre. We were greeted at the door by a security guard who asked us to turn off our phones. We went inside and made our way to the reception desk where a lady asked for my document checklist and then asked for my documents one by one. The documents were then put into a plastic sleeve that we were given back to me. We then went through security and they took all of our non-essential belongings, leaving us with just the paperwork and wallet. A security guard then put us onto an elevator all the way up to floor 59 (my ears popped!).
On floor 59 we showed our passports to the officer at the door, who told us to go in and press "Visa" on the ticket machine, take a ticket, and wait for our number to be called. About 20 minutes later our number was called and a lady took my fingerprints and took my documents, then... read complete review

The Sydney Consulate seems to work like a well oiled machine. I went the day before to see where it was. Something I'd definitely recommend if you're not familiar with the MLC building.
When entering in level 10 someone asks for your documents with checklist. They go through them and put them in a plastic sleeve to take up to level 59. There was a woman in front of me who clearly was a little all over the place and was told where to go to get photocopies of what she needed.
Next, you go through security. They say not to bring anything with you as they can't store it but that's not true. I left my phone in my hotel room but they stored the bag I had put my documents in and I took my wallet up with me.
When entering level 59 you take a ticket. I was called up straight away and gave my documents to a woman behind a counter. She scrupulously went through everything. Made a few comments that made me nervous and then told me to sit back down an... read complete review

Hi all!
I had my interview for the K1 visa at the Sydney consulate on January 24.
I had been moseying along trying to gather all the documents needed under the impression that when I was granted an interview date, it would not be for weeks and weeks...I think I wound up being notified of my interview date 10 days prior to it! So despite being what I had assumed was diligent in getting organised, I felt totally unprepared. I did not have the originals of any of my fiance's original financial documents or forms, nor his personal documents like birth certificate, and plus I had to schedule the medical, get vaccinations due to my doctor having lost all my childhood records, and was calling Canada in the middle of every night to find out what had happened with my police certificate I believed I required from there (working holiday programs- seemed like a great idea at the time!).
I debated whether to ask for later interview date, but decided ... read complete review
