The interview did not go as I thought. The officer barely spoke English! Probably because the interview was done in California and the normal interviewee does not speak English? Not sure. We swore in by raising out right hand. She then asked us where we live, how much we pay a month, and for our evidence of intermingling of finances. She said all was approved except my spouse's medical as they expire after one year (Bummer, that was another $400) She explained that since California has so many people immigrating, that the process takes longer and most people have to get a second medical exam. But we our done after 19 months since Dany came over! javascript:emoticon('')

March 2017 AOS from tourist visa.
A couple of annoying things:
1) No clear signs about the entrance to use for getting to the second floor. There is a back door with US Immigration signs but the entrance is unmarked (except for a 10 min long security line) on the corner of Santa Ana blvd and Civic Center Plaza
2) $9 to park in the onsite lot!
3) 1.5 hours wait (we were only 15 mins early...)
Otherwise the officer that handled our case was kinda and curious. Clearly has dealt with more complex and suspicious cases, ours was pretty straight forward.

Our appointment was at 7:15am. We arrived at 7:00am. There was a pretty big line in front of the building. When our turn arrived to enter the building, we passed security, showed our ID and appointment letter.
On the 2nd floor, we gave our appointment letter and sat down. About 30 mins later, they called my name.
The interview was smooth. The IO checked the infos on the AOS form.
- Asked for our ID and sworn oath.
- Asked for my husband birth certificate and marriage certificate. Reviewed them and asked for a copy of each.
- Checked that i had my medical exam results
- Are you renting? Can i see your lease? Who is on the lease?
- Asked for the phone bill.
- Asked what was the last time i left the country and looked for the stamp on the passport, asked for a copy. Purpose of the trip.
- How many cars do you have? Asked for a copy of the insurance policy.
- Who do you bank with? Joint accounts? Bank statements? ... read complete review

We had the interview earlier today at Santa Ana office. Approved on spot. It was on time. ( actually my husband said it was 10 minutes before our appointment 😊) The officer just asked general questions (checking information on the forms mostly) and checked if we have the original documents of the birth certificate for both of us and our marriage certificate. He asked how we met, timeline and what I was doing before, any new documents we want to submit. It was a friendly interview for about 30 minutes. Last thing, he asked if we both were wearing the wedding ring/band.
I asked for the stamp on passport. The officer that interviewed us gave a document requested for the stamp on my passport but the staff at the documents counter on the first floor told us to wait for the actual card by mail. And if we don't get in within a month then just go back there again ðŸ˜
So, thank you so much for all VJ members and good luck for everyone 😉
