My husband applied under the 3-year rule, his "journey" being CR-1, ROC and now naturalization. He wasn't the best at relaying what happened, but here is the gist of it:
We went in together. The guard downstairs said I could go in the interview with him (I was doubtful) but of course that was not true. I just waited in the (nearly empty) lobby.
A very nice IO came out to get him. She said I should stick around in case she had any questions.
He was in maybe 20 minutes. He said right after he swore to tell the truth he told her about the extra trip to Canada he didn't put on his application and she laughed at his *truthfulness* and said she would add it when they went over that section.
One of the general questions she asked him was when my birthday was and he was WRONG (by 10 days). She said "are you sure...?" and he finally got it right. She was laughing at him.
The questions he remembers (he swears she only as... read complete review

We got approved on the spot! The interview went so smoothly and only lasted about 10 minutes all up. The officer, a young well spoken asian gentleman, greeted us warmly in the waiting room and took us through some doors and down a corridor to a small very well decorated office. He asked us to come in and stay standing while he asked us both to swear under oath to tell the truth. Then quickly went over our paperwork and everything was in check. He then asked my husband(even though i'm the alien) to explain how we met, where, how long ago, when we decided to get married, where we got married and how life is now that we're married. He didn't ask me any questions which was surprising but I offered up some comments during his questioning which he seemed fine with. I offered to show him our wedding photo album which he said was beautiful as i'm sure he would say to any newly married couple lol and he asked if i would like to submit any paperwork of our joint assets. I gave him our joint bank... read complete review

Our appointment was at 9:45 am, we weren\'t called in until 10:00 am. Once we were called in, the IO was really nice. He swore us in. We were in his office for maybe 20 minutes. He asked for our CA ID\'s. He wanted to make copies, but we had copies and we just handed them to him. He asked for my husbands EAD card, we had a copy of that too. He asked for my husband\'s social security card. He made some changes on our I-485 application. He asked if we lived together. We gave him bank statements, PG&E bill, and copies of CC. He also asked me if my husband worked and he asked my husband if I worked. Then he asked where does your wife work? Then he asked my husband is POE date and our wedding date. He looked at my latest pay stub. He didn\'t look at our pictures or any evidence from our honeymoon or our marriage certificate. But he did acknowlege that he saw us holding the album and didn\'t want us to feel like we ignored it. He handed us a paper that said \"FOR FURTHER REVIE... read complete review

Very pleasant experiance.
I had an AOS interview on Feb 1st, 2012.
I arrived with my wife about an hour early, the guys at the front door checked our interview letter, then told us where the USCIS office was. We checked in with the reception, and took a seat. My name got called right at our appointment time..
The lady was nice, but serious throughout the interview. She only asked us a couple of questions. where did we meet, had I met her family, where was the wedding? We told her we got married in the SF city hall. Our families were not present, and we didn't exchange rings... but that didn't seem to bother her.
We had a full binder with photos and additional documents, but she didnt want to see them when we offered.
She made a couple of notes, and corrected a couple of things on my i-485 (mistakes I had made).. then told us we would receive a letter telling us their decision. I checked the USCIS website later that day, and it... read complete review

Very painless. We got the same AO for both AOS and Naturalization. After the interview, he escorted us down a floor, personally delivered our paperwork, and made sure we had an date for the Oath Ceremony before we left.
