My appointment to adjust my status from a K-1 visa was at 1:30. My husband and I found a good parking spot on the Westfield mall nearby, and we walked for about 5 min to arrive to the Federal building where the Sacramento USCIS office is.
Thanks to the reviews on VJ, you know we couldn't enter with our cell phones so we let them in the car. Unfortunately though, we had no idea how long long each step took (no clock and no watch!). I would say we arrived at 1:15 in the waiting room. I slipped my Interview notice at the check-in window as instructed (their blinds are closed, but I noticed someone took my notice after a minute).
We waited for about 30 min before an Immigration Officer called our names. Right after arriving to his office, we both took the oath and then sat. He asked me basic questions in order to review my AOS application (asked for my name, DOB, address...). While flipping each page of our application, he asked us how did we met. I let my husband answered as... read complete review

we arrived just in time. the building is near the cathedral in sacramento. we parked on a public parking about a block in front of the building. upon entering, you need to show valid ID's. mine was the ead (no state id/driver's license yet)my husband uses his driver's license. went through x-ray and for the second floor. i saw an african-woman with an id just got off from the elevator. i asked her if she works there. and she said, yes. i asked her if where can we find the room 2-220. she said...i'll show you. and i said, isn't it a bother? and she said smiling, it's not a bother at all. some could get lost in the building. she's really nice. she went back with us inside the elevator and showed us the way in the second floor.
i would have went directly to the waiting room but my husband wanted to go to the rest room first. so, i went to the women's and he went to the men's. when i came out, my husband was waiting for me and told me, my name had been called already. and he... read complete review

This site has been very helpful to me. I wanted to be sure to write up my own experience to help anyone else going through this stressful period.
My last entry was on a tourist visa in 2004 from the UK. I have been out of status since 2005. However I have lived here since the age of 4, when my parents moved our family here on an E-2 visa. I met my now husband in July 2010 through friends and we got married in Feb 2012. We sent our paperwork (I-485, I-131, I-864, G-325) in the last week of April and had our interview yesterday July 16th. We are both in our mid-20s and of different races, I am Indian and he is Filipino and White.
We prepared insanely for this interview. I had a large stack of paperwork prepared to show proof of our bonafide marriage. Here is a partial list:
3 months of checking account statements
3 months of joint credit card statements (to show activity on card)
Paystubs from both husband and joint-sponser... read complete review

Maybe I should have somehow already known this, but you can't bring your cell phone in the building (I think this is for all federal buildings). And here they will not hold it for you. Annoying, because on the (AOS) appointment notice there is a list of about twenty things you must bring with you....how difficult would it be to add a line about not bringing cell phones? I'm really good about following directions if they are made available to me. When I mentioned it, our officer was like, "Oh, yeah, that happens sometimes. People have to run back to their cars and they're worried about being late." If it happens enough that the officers are so casual about it, it's often enough it should be on the appointment notice. Arrgh. And not everyone will be able to simply run back to the car, some people take buses, etc.
But everything was okay in the end, since we were approved!

I'd like to share of my wife's naturalization at Sacramento, CA USCIS where she's have a Citizenship interview. She came to US as International student, paid expensive tuition fees to obtain her Master degree in Colorado University. After marrying me and getting her green card (the green card interview went smoothly with no problem or suspicions), she is eligible for Citizenship interview at Sacramento, CA CIS office. My wife described as she is the only person there, the building is empty and quiet! so she thought she came to the wrong place or wrong date but No, it's the right place said the officer. The interview panel includes 2 officers (a woman and a man), with all the recording cameras pointing at her (fyi-my wife is not a terrorist or most wanted woman in the world but she used to work as Human resource for Vietnamese government).
What shocks me most is before leaving the interview, the fr**king officer (the guy) told her if my wife is wearing a pillow for sh... read complete review
