Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

Ana and I had an 11:30 appointment. We arrived at 11:00 and waited in line at the reception area. We provided our NOA and our IDs and were told to drop off our paperwork and that they would call our name.

We dropped off our paperwork at around 11:15 and waited roughly an hour before they called our name. The wait was unbearable.

The interview itself was very straight forward. We had brought copies of all of our paperwork but they didn't really need to see much of it (since we had already submitted it through the K1 and AOS application process). We provided Ana's passport and they asked for some proof of ongoing relationship (examples included joint checking accounts, shared lease, etc.). The examples we provided were joint insurance (auto, health, life) which was sufficient.

We were each asked questions about the other person but we weren't separated (we were both in the room at the time of the questioning). Some of the questions included th... read complete review

Right now we're still waiting for the EAD and AOS to be approved, but have had the biometrics appointment.

Outside there was a collection of people hanging around with miniature US flags, near a pasted-on replica of the Statue of Liberty. Nice touch for a government office, that you wonder how they had the funding approved as it's pretty non-essential; but I guess it's in their financial interest to garner further applications by maintaining a positive image.

When we went inside, it was a spaced-out room which looks very much like airport security areas, albeit with older looking equipment and only a handful of guards working the line. We were told we cannot have any mobile phones in our bag and that my wife would have to take them back to 'our vehicle'.

Our vehicle was a cab, which had already left, with no intention of remaining available as a storage unit, so that idea was out. Instead, my wife simply had to wait outside until I was fini... read complete review

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

We arrived at noon for a 12:30 interview - the office was quite busy. The gentlemen supervising the metal detector were kind and welcoming. We were asked to drop our interview letter off at window 8 in the basket, face down. And then we wait!

In the waiting room there were approx. 15 different groups/couples waiting as well - many with lawyers present.

At about 12:45, a male officer invited us back for our interview. He was very kind, yet business like. He swore us in, reviewed our application with us to make sure biographical information was correct, he asked the "yes/no" questions, and then he asked to see our evidence. We had extensive financial and "on paper" evidence, but at the last minute I decided to bring in some family photo albums and I was glad that I did - the Office enjoyed looking at the photos. He asked us how we met and how long we have lived together. He told us "You made this a very easy approval" - then printed out a letter s... read complete review
