Hi everyone!
I'm very pleased to say that my husband's Adjustment of Status was approved today at our interview in Newark, New Jersey. My husband added me to his bank account the night before our interview, and we asked for the photocopy of the sheet they wanted us to sign. Additionally, I had my financial planner add my husband as a benificiary on my retirement fund. We also had copies of our credit cards, phone bills, important email conversations, train tickets, bus tickets, our itinerary for our trip to India next month, and from our trip over Labor Day weekend.
Our appointment was scheduled for 8:30 on the 15th floor of 970 Broad St. We arrived in the building about 8:00, cleared security at the Walnut street entrance, and proceded to the 15th floor. When we presented our reciept to the guard who told us that we would have to go to the 13th floor. We took the elevator down two floors and arrived on the 13th floor. OK so here is whatr happened to us. We got to Newark at like 8:00AM for a 9:30 appointment, so we waited in thecar a while. Passed security and gave our letter to window # 2. I asked for an interpreter as my husbands English is not the best and did not want him getting confused with the questions. We waited until around 11:30am and were called in by a Hispanic lady. The whole interview was done in Spanish ( thank goodness I speak it fluently ). This added to the point of a reak marriage. SHe asked a few question like My mom's name and my dad's , well he did not know my dad's ever though we have gone over it. It said that my dad had passed many years ago and I do not speak of him often ( i do not ). Any way on the form we did not out he was divorced twice. But we had the divirce decree so she let it pass. She asked for photos , we had like 100, however the only photo she took out was a photo of my Husband with my Daughter ( 17 ) and her best friend at the beach. We arrived at the Newark office at 9:10 for our 9:30 appointment. The waiting area was filled with couples and several of them had lawyers. We gave our letter to the woman behind the glass window and she told us to have a seat and wait to be called. At 9:45 we were called to the door by a man perhaps in his early thirties. He had us swear an oath to tell the truth and then we sat down facing his desk. He was behind the desk with a stack of papers and he proceded to flip through our application and ask some questions. He first asked about the address and then told us that the Turkish birth certificate we had submitted was not an official birth certificate...it's a Turkish ID. The ID says birth certificate and the translation stated birth certificate but apparently they do not accept it. He was really nice about it though. He said it happens to almost every Turkish citizen. He told us the proper paper to get and then he asked a few more questions about our jobs and when we met.... read complete review

Our appointment was at 8.30am, we were pleased about this as hopefully it would mean less waiting! We arrived at 8am and were promptly admitted and given instructed on where to go and how to pass through the metal detectors and security (my wife said that this was the most scary part!).
Once through we were quickly sent to the correct floor for the interview. We were instructed to put our appointment notice in the AOS window and wait to be called. We were called at 8.45 so hardly any wait, which was a good as we had our 2 week old baby with us!
Our interviewer was a very nice lady who asked us to tell the truth and nothing but. She sat us down and from this point on most of the questioning was directed at me. She asked where we met, the date of our first date, and my wife's birthday. We had our interview on April 24,2007 in Mount Laurel, NJ. Our lawyer met us there. I brought everything they asked for in the appointment letter, plus my lawyer told me to bring all saved documents since we started this journey! It weighed about 25 pounds! The immigration oficer took us into his office, including our lawyer. The total interview only took about 20 minutes. He asked severalquestions, i.e. how did you meet, when did you meet, do you live in the same household, when did you arrive in the US, have you ever been in the US before, have you ever applied for a visa before, have you ever been married before, do you have a wife in Turkey, do you have children in Turkey, did you meet his family when you were in Turkey... Then he asked me if I was aware that people sometimes only marry to get the green card? I said yes I know.
