We had our interview on April 24,2007 in Mount Laurel, NJ. Our lawyer met us there. I brought everything they asked for in the appointment letter, plus my lawyer told me to bring all saved documents since we started this journey! It weighed about 25 pounds! The immigration oficer took us into his office, including our lawyer. The total interview only took about 20 minutes. He asked severalquestions, i.e. how did you meet, when did you meet, do you live in the same household, when did you arrive in the US, have you ever been in the US before, have you ever applied for a visa before, have you ever been married before, do you have a wife in Turkey, do you have children in Turkey, did you meet his family when you were in Turkey... Then he asked me if I was aware that people sometimes only marry to get the green card? I said yes I know. He asked if I felt this was the case and I said no and if I did I would not have gone through this. He said that sometimes spouses are not aware of this. HE asked for some forms of evidence and he took our bank satement, proof of health insurance, letters from our employeers... Not much at all. Didn't ask for any proof of marriage. Glanced through our photo albums, looked through our passports. Took his I-94 out of the passport. Took his temporary EAD card and stamped his passport and told us that he will receive his green card by mail. Explained that it was good for 2 years, but we need to apply before the 2 years are up to lift conditions. It was not bad at all. The officer was nice and a biton the quiet side. Thank God we are done with this for at least 2 years!
