Although Newark took about a month longer than most other offices, once we got there it was totally smooth. We were there for such a short time, I hardly know what to say about the place! Our interview lasted about 2 minutes. IO Mr. Murphy was very nice.

Review Topic: Adjustment of Status

First let me say that the journey is stressfull but in the end you realize that the most important thing is to be prepared with all of your documentation and you will be just fine. Our interview experience at the Newark, NJ USCIS office was really good. Our appointment was scheduled for 9:00am and we got there around 8:15am. After going through the security, we checked in around 8:30 and sat in the waiting room. There's a couple of tv's there so I was just watching highlights of the world cup games The interviewer called my name and lead us towards his office (cubicle). As soon as we sat down he asked us for our ID's (passports) and all supporting documents regarding our marriage, certificates, pictures, bank statements and apartment lease. Just as an FYI, being organized and having copies of EVERYTHING is going to save you a lot of time and frustration at the interview. We had also made color photocopies of about 50 or so wedding pics that we submitted. After verif... read complete review

We got there 45 min before and were impressed (and thankful) that the interview started on time. IO was polite and understanding.
Confirmed name and address. Asked when and how we met.
We had the impression IO had good knowledge of both cultures when he asked about the marriage.
It took 10 min.

There were 2 big waiting rooms, 1 really full of people and another one with 5 couples. We were sent to the second waiting room.
We got there 45 min before and we were impressed that the interview started EXACTLY on time.
IO confirmed name and address, asked normal questions like when and how we met, and kept health insurance records and joint bank account.
In and out in less than 10 min.

PS1: We have all of our pictures in CDs and online, so we had to print some of them for the interview. We selected 350 pictures from 5 years and sent them to Walgreens, they came all out of order, it was really hard, and IO didn't ask to see any pics.

PS2: In Newark, the soap in the restroom smells like oil for car engine.
