Hi everyone,
I wanted to share our interview experience last Friday at the Los Angeles office. Our Apt was at 8:45am; we got to the building right at that time and luckily there was no one in line outside so we went right through. In the waiting room there were only a few people, we were both surprised that the building was so dead, I dunno what was up that day. We gave our apt letter to a receptionist at a window and were called in by the IO about 5 minutes later.
The IO was a short, middle-aged Hispanic women, she lead us into her office and swore us in. She asked for our IDs and birth certificates. I handed her my CA driver license and US passport and my hubby gave her his EAD and Passport. The IO only briefly glanced at our IDs, but didn't inspect the passports or birth certificates. She began by asking how we met and what language we spoke to each other, then she directed a few questions at my husband like what was my school schedule and what my conce... read complete review

Our interview was scheduled for 8:00 this morning. We hit a bit more traffic than I had expected and got to Downtown LA a little after 7:30. We circled around looking for parking (I had read about the various lots and prices in the area), but settled for the garage at the Los Angeles Mall, right across the street from the Federal Building. They normally charge $16, but they have an $8 early-bird special before 8:00 am. When we got to the Federal Building, around 7:40ish, there were two lines: one for InfoPass and one for interviews, and they were both quite long. We headed for the interview line, but a security guard made us move to the InfoPass line--not just me and my husband, but several other people as well. I tried to show him my interview letter, but he insisted we should go to other line. We stood in the barely-moving InfoPass line for about 25 minutes--at this point, our interview time had come and gone. Several of us in line went up to a different guard to inquire politely wha... read complete review

We had an appointment for our AOS interview on February 3, 2012 at 1:00pm. We arrived at around 11:30 (super early, I know). There's parking at the back of the building for $6. There's a mall in front of the building, but parking is $16, and there's another one beside it, but it's for $8, so if you're frugal, look for the $6 one, it's not that far anyway. It's not hard to fine because it has a big sign, and it's off the freeway.
On the entrance of the building is a metal detector, so I guess don't bring anything that you don't really need. Then, we went on to the 8th floor and gave our appointment letter. At that point, all we had to do is wait for our name to be called.
At 1:30 pm, we were finally called. Our interview is a very jolly African-American woman, who made us feel very at ease. From the very start of the interview, she was all smiles and laughs, and the interview was quite informal, like we were just telling stories. It was fun.

Pleasant experience. We parked at the Los Angeles Mall directly across the street ($8 for the day). You are not meant to bring any sort of camera device (including phones with cameras) into the building, but we certainly saw some people with both iPhones and iPads in the waiting room. The office was running about 1.5 hours behind in interviewing, but there are some snacks and drinks you can buy while you wait. Our interviewing officer was very nice and did not make us feel scared or nervous. Very easy going. The interview lasted about 20 minutes and was very basic.
