Interview this morning was painless!
We were scheduled for a 7:30am interview and arrived at around 7:15am. We entered the building and the officer asked us for our appointment letter and IDs. We both presented our driver's licenses and were prompted to put our belongings in a bin for the x-ray, followed by our shoes. Then they directed us to the elevators and we went to the second floor. We checked in with the security personnel and presented our letter again. They took it and told us to take a seat. Everyone was extremely pleasant and cordial! After about ten minutes, they called us back up and handed us our letter marked with 'A', signifying we would be called through that door.
We were called in around 7:50am by Officer Denise Meyer. She was welcoming, kind, and very conversational. We entered her office, which looked like any other business office with a desk, chairs, computer, and framed family photos. We set our things down and took an oath swearing... read complete review

note: this writeup covers 2 interviews. My wife and daughter (K1 and K2 AOS applicants). They both received separate interview letters, the appointments were scheduled 15 minutes apart. In reality, the 2 appointments were combined into one, interviewed by the same officer at the same time.
After presenting our appointment letters / passports to the security officers inside the entry door, we were then directed through the metal detectors. Think TSA, we even had to take off our shoes. The signs directed us to the second floor. The elevators were right there. Once we exited the elevator, we submitted the appointment letters to 2 gentlemen sitting at a small desk nearby who assigned the cases to an interviewing officer and told us which door (A,B, C, ...) we would later be summoned through by the interviewing officer. They wrote the door letter and assigned officer's name on the appointment letter and gave it back to us. We went and sat near the specified door and ... read complete review

Our appointment was at 7:30am. There were 2 accidents on the way and we had to reroute around them, which added some unnecessary stress to the situation.
We planned to arrive 20-30 min early, but ended up arriving to the building around 7:25. We were fine, but I thought we were cutting really close and as I was driving, I was really hoping that the GPS was taking us to the right place. I do not recommend doing the same, haha. I thought it would have been a good idea to drive to the building the day before, but well too late for that now. So my recommendation is drive to the building before your interview date, and plan to arrive extra early.
Step 1: security
We had to show our APPOINTMENT LETTER and both IDs. My husband said "we are here for an interview" and the security guy said "so you're looking for a job?" Which was kind of nice to have a non hostile environment. It was same drill as the airport security... Shoes off, empty pockets, everything in th... read complete review

I was adjusting status from an L1B visa to residency after marrying a US Citizen.
We arrived about 30 minutes before the interview time, and we were let in after a very serious security guard reviewed our paperwork. We then checked in and waited and a huge room - lots of seating with bathrooms nearby.
About 5 minutes past we were called to the interview room by a very friendly officer. We chatted a bit and then he swore us in before going over the paperwork. He asked us to confirm info on the documents we had submitted. Names (my wife had since changed her last name), address (we had moved since the paperwork was sent), and where I was born etc.
Then he asked each of us the other's birthday, when and where we met, the area we lived in and then asked me the strict questions about my history with military etc. The only issues I've had with the law are speeding tickets and told him that.
Next he asked for what evidence we had bro... read complete review

My husband and I were VERY happy to find out that our interview date was months earlier than the projected timelines led us to believe. Unfortunately, it was right smack in the middle of our family vacation that had been planned a year in advance. So instead of gambling with trying to get a rescheduled interview (and avoiding any kind of "you think vacation is more important than AOS?" questions during the interview) we cut our vacation short and paid up for one-way tickets back home.
The building at which the interview was conducted is very nice (nothing like the one where we got Wesley's biometrics) off of Colfax. We arrived about 20 minutes before our scheduled interview time, went through security and made our way upstairs to check in. I think we waited about 15 minutes before being called by our immigration officer, Mr Phillips. He was very pleasant from the get-to, asking how we're doing, if we waited long...etc. We were very lucky to get him, as we were both pretty nervou... read complete review
