K-1 Visa Interview Experience
I attended the K-1 visa interview with my fiancée, H??ng. They allowed me to accompany her into the embassy. Our appointment time was 7:30 AM, but we arrived early at 6:48 AM and lined up. When the doors opened, the staff checked for our DS-160 confirmation page and appointment letter.
It turned out the appointment time didn’t matter much because everyone was processed in the order they arrived. After entering, we were given a number for processing. No electronics were allowed inside, so we only brought our packet and a backpack.
Document Submission and Waiting
The embassy had a screen that showed when it was your turn to go up to the counter. About an hour in, we were called up and asked to provide all the required paperwork. Once we submitted the documents, we were told to sit and wait again.
Approximately two hours later, we were called up for the interview. I noticed ... read complete review

Appointment at 0740. Line to enter the consulate was very long but moved somewhat quickly. Started waiting to be called about 0800. First call to check documents at 0830. This is an interview for my under 18 year old stepson IR2 Visa. Only took his birth certificate, my marriage certificate, copy of mother's green card, and my birth cartificate (I'm a US citizen and the petitioner). Waited about two hours to be called for interview. They call numbers randomly. For example, my number was 1070 but numbers such as 1085 etc were called before us. Got to the interview with one US and one Vietnamese agent. One question "Where is your biological father". The US consular agent stamppled the document approved before the questions even asked by the Vietnamese agent. This my second time for an interview. First was with my wife a few years before. Only three questions to her. I suspect these visa approvals are really predetermined. Overall a good experience!

I attended the interview with my fiancée, Nhi. Our appointment was today, 9/30/2024 at 7:30 a.m. At 7:00 a.m. sharp, the rush to the front of the line began and we were about number 20ish in line with 70ish people behind us. Appointment Letters and DS-160 Confirmation pages were checked by the guards outside. After submitting the required paperwork inside, it took about 3 hours until Nhi and I were called to window 18 for our interview. There was only a few people remaining once it was time for us to be interviewed.
They first asked Nhi if she spoke English. She said a little bit. They swore Nhi in Vietnamese. They let me stand right next to my fiancée while the interviewer interviewed us both one at a time. I was first on the chopping block while Nhi stood right next to me.
I was asked 5 questions in English:
1. What do I do for work?
2. What did Nhi (my fiancée) do for work?
3. How did we meet? Her great uncle introduced us. The... read complete review
